Overview of BLOC Ministries

BLOC Ministries is an inner-city ministry committed to living and serving in the neighborhoods we call home. Our mission is to build meaningful relationships with our neighbors and share hope in the midst of brokenness. We intentionally serve underserved communities, walking alongside individuals and families with compassion, consistency, and care.

With a team of approximately 80 staff members, BLOC serves the community through a variety of ministries, including after-school programs, job training, a sports performance center, a daytime hospitality center for women experiencing homelessness, recovery homes for men and women, a coffee shop, equine-assisted learning, an immigrant welcome center, and other programs designed to meet practical needs, build relationships, and love our neighbors well.

Position Summary

EPOH Respite (Support) Staff provide daily supervision, structure, transportation, and relational support for students living in the EPOH home. This is ademanding, hands-on role that requires emotional maturity, strong boundaries, and a deep commitment to teamwork and biblical values.

About the role

The Youth Residential Respite position provides consistent support and encouragement to young people living in BLOC’s residential program. By stepping into the everyday moments—driving to school, helping with homework, preparing meals, maintaining routines, and simply being present—this role helps create a safe, stable, and caring home environment. More than providing supervision, this person has the opportunity to build healthy relationships, model consistency, and help youth know they are valued, supported, and not walking through life alone.

Mission & Culture Fit

The ideal candidate demonstrates a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and supports BLOC Ministries’ mission, vision, and values. This person serves with integrity, humility, compassion, patience, and consistency and understands the importance of creating a safe, stable, and supportive environment for youth.

We are looking for someone who believes in the potential of every young person, builds healthy and appropriate relationships, and responds to challenging situations with patience and wisdom. This person is dependable, works well as part of a team, maintains appropriate boundaries, and is passionate about helping youth experience stability, encouragement, and opportunities to grow and thrive.
