Civitech is a public benefit corporation dedicated to creating a fairer and more equitable democracy by building the tools and infrastructure needed to increase civic participation, empower Democratic candidates to win, and support the success of progressive causes.
Since its founding in 2019, over 1400 partners -- a range of nonprofit organizations, national political committees, and individual campaigns -- have utilized Civitech’s tools to reach tens of millions of voters to help create a more equitable and progressive democracy.
Civitech is seeking experienced independent consultants with established local political relationships and knowledge of election administration to provide targeted information and connections in support of BallotCure. This engagement draws on expertise and networks consultants already bring to their work.
Needs will vary by location. An engagement may involve only a handful of hours over the entire project period, and some locations may require no services. There is no guaranteed minimum volume of work or expectation of ongoing availability.
It is important that our team reflects the diversity of the organizations we seek to serve. We strongly encourage women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ people, and others otherwise underrepresented in the technology sector to apply.
Scope of Services
- Providing local context on ballot cure procedures, relevant contacts, or a specific election administration question, drawing on existing knowledge and appropriately sourced information.
- Facilitating introductions to relevant state or local party contacts, campaign staff, voter protection partners, or election administrators through existing professional relationships.
- Helping obtain clarification of a specific local process or issue through lawful, appropriate channels and identifying the people or resources best positioned to address it.
- Providing a concise summary of findings, sources, unresolved questions, and recommended next steps for an agreed assignment.
Specific assignments will be mutually agreed based on local needs and the consultant’s expertise and availability. Services may include:
Â
Deliverables may be a consultation, an introduction, a confirmed procedural answer, or a short written summary. The scope does not include managing Civitech’s ballot cure operations, supervising staff, providing routine field coverage, or serving as a standing representative at election offices.
How the Engagement Works:
- Each assignment will define the requested result, timing, fees, and any agreed expenses before work begins.Â
- Consultants determine their own approach, methods, and schedule for accepted assignments, subject to agreed deadlines and applicable confidentiality, data security, and legal requirements.
- There are no set shifts, daily reporting requirements, routine office visits, or standing night or weekend commitments.Â
- The engagement is nonexclusive. Consultants may provide services to other clients, subject to confidentiality and any agreed conflict of interest requirements.
- Civitech’s Senior Program Director will be the contact for agreeing on assignments and receiving deliverables. Any in person services or travel will be addressed in the applicable assignment.

- The ability to independently assess a local question, identify appropriate sources, and communicate accurate, useful findings.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism when handling sensitive information or communicating with public officials and political stakeholders.
Professional Standards
- Services must use lawful and appropriate channels and respect the nonpartisan responsibilities of election officials. Consultants may not offer gifts or favors to obtain information or influence official action, seek unauthorized access to voter information, or make commitments on Civitech’s behalf.
