About the Role

We’re hiring on behalf of a fast-growing, well-funded travel startup on a mission to transform the travel industry with cutting-edge tech. They’re building intelligent B2B and B2C applications that simplify planning, booking, and managing travel. We're looking for aBackend Engineering Lead to join their India office inTrivandrum (in-person role).

What You'll Do

  • Lead a team of 10–15 backend engineers, offering both strategic direction and hands-on technical contributions.

  • Build and scale corebackend systems, including APIs, asynchronous workers, and automation workflows.

  • Define and evolve the product architecturefrom the ground up.

  • Drive backend performance, scalability, and reliability improvements.

  • Work closely with DevOps to build and monitor infrastructure onGoogle Cloud Platform usingInfrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, product managers, and other engineers to ship impactful features.

You Might Be a Fit If You

  • Have7+ years of Python backend experience, with2+ years in a technical leadership role.

  • Are deeply comfortable building and debugging APIs (REST and GraphQL).

  • Have experience with database systems —SQL,NoSQL, and optionallygraph databases.

  • Are confident in deploying, monitoring, and scalingproduction-grade systems.

  • Know your way aroundKubernetes,containers, andcloud-native tools.

  • Have experience with performance profiling and backend optimization.

  • Experience building AI-powered applications using LLMs, and RAG.

Bonus Points

  • Contributed toPython open-source libraries or tools.

  • Built or experimented withagentic AI systems.

  • Experience working inearly-stage startups.

  • Familiarity withGraphQL federation and distributed service design.
