We’re looking for a hands-on Network Engineer to join our Platform Services function. Reporting into the Network Engineering leadership team, this role will help operate and support FNZ’s enterprise network estate, contributing to the stability, performance, security, and ongoing improvement of our on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments.

What you’ll be doing

As a Network Engineer, you’ll be part of the regional Network Engineering team, helping to maintain and improve secure, resilient, and high-performing network services across FNZ.

Your responsibilities will include:

Network Operations & Engineering

• Supporting the operation, maintenance, and optimisation of FNZ’s enterprise network infrastructure
• Supporting the investigation and resolution of network incidents and service issues, escalating where required
• Troubleshooting and resolving network performance, availability, and connectivity issues
• Supporting lifecycle management activity including upgrades, patching, configuration improvements, and infrastructure refreshes
• Ensuring network services remain highly available, secure, and aligned to business needs

Design, Delivery & Improvement

• Contributing to the design and delivery of network solutions for new and existing systems
• Working with Network Architecture to implement new tooling, infrastructure, and network capabilities
• Supporting the review of existing technologies and identifying practical improvements
• Helping to enhance automation and reduce manual, repeatable network tasks
• Supporting continuous improvement of operational procedures, standards, and documentation

Collaboration & Stakeholder Support

• Working closely with Platform Services, Infrastructure, Security, Cloud, and business teams to deliver reliable network outcomes
• Supporting project delivery alongside BAU operational responsibilities
• Providing clear technical updates and analysis to engineering leads and stakeholders
• Helping to explain technical issues, business impact, risks, and resolution options clearly

What we’re looking for

You’ll be a practical, hands-on network engineer who is comfortable working in enterprise environments and understands the importance of secure, resilient infrastructure for business-critical platforms.

Essential experience:

• Practical experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise network environments
• Experience supporting network infrastructure in on-premises environments; exposure to hybrid or public cloud networking is advantageous
• Experience supporting incident response and structured troubleshooting in operational environments
• Good understanding of network availability, performance, resilience, and security principles
• Practical experience in several of the following areas:
  • Experience with Cisco switching technologies; Cisco Nexus experience is advantageous
  • Good Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking and troubleshooting knowledge
  • Working knowledge of OSPF and BGP routing protocols
  • Exposure to overlay or fabric technologies such as VXLAN or NSX-T
  • Network security principles and secure configuration practices
  • Exposure to application delivery platforms such as F5 LTM/GTM

Desirable experience in the below areas would be advantageous:

• Fortigate firewall solutions

• F5 Distributed Cloud
• Network automation and orchestration, such as Terraform, Ansible, or CI/CD pipelines
• Cloud networking across AWS, Azure, or GCP
• LogicMonitor or similar enterprise-grade monitoring platforms
