Equipment Operator I-Public Works

As a condition of employment all employees must pass a post offer criminal history background check, physical examination and drug screen. All employees must also submit proof of identity and employment eligibility.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for operating a variety of equipment and performing essential maintenance activities that support safe and efficient street operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operates equipment such as dump trucks (including plow and sander attachments during snow operations), asphalt rollers, mowers, weed eaters, and other machinery as assigned.

• Assists in snow removal operations and other emergency response activities as needed.

• Trains employees in lower classifications on the proper and safe operation of equipment.

• Performs routine maintenance checks on assigned equipment and reports any issues.

• Completes additional related duties as required to support street maintenance and division goals.

• Ability to work in all weather conditions

• Other duties assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED. Valid Kansas Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B with air brake endorsement and automobile insurance. Knowledge of Kansas City, Kansas streets.

Salary Range:

$24.01/hr.
