Overview

Black Canyon Consulting (BCC) is searching for aSenior Reengineering Specialist to lead complex business process reengineering and workflow modernization initiatives across programs, offices, and organizational functions. The Senior Reengineering Specialist will work with leadership, stakeholders, and technical teams to evaluate current operations, redesign processes, identify opportunities for automation, and support implementation of scalable and sustainable improvements.

Job Description

The Senior Reengineering Specialist will serve as a senior technical lead responsible for planning, directing, and executing process reengineering initiatives. This position will conduct comprehensive reviews of current-state workflows, lead discovery workshops, identify root causes of operational inefficiencies, and design improved future-state processes.

The Senior Reengineering Specialist will also evaluate automation and digital solutions, develop high-quality operational documentation, lead pilot testing, analyze process performance, and coordinate implementation and scaling of redesigned workflows. This position will provide direction to junior staff and ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of reengineering deliverables.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of relevant professional experience
• Experience leading business process reengineering or process improvement initiatives
• Experience conducting comprehensive current-state (“as-is”) workflow assessments
• Experience designing future-state (“to-be”) workflows
• Experience leading stakeholder discovery workshops and process review sessions
• Experience developing end-to-end process maps
• Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills
• Experience identifying delays, handoff failures, bottlenecks, redundant activities, and administrative burden
• Experience evaluating automation, digital forms, workflow tools, or other technology-enabled process improvements
• Experience developing SOPs, workflow charts, roles and responsibility matrices, templates, job aids, and communication materials
• Experience leading pilot testing and evaluating process performance metrics
• Experience coordinating implementation and scaling of redesigned business processes
• Ability to provide direction and quality oversight to junior team members
• Strong facilitation, analytical, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to ensure work aligns with applicable policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements

• Experience supporting federal government or similarly regulated organizations

Job Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and execute business process reengineering initiatives
• Lead comprehensive assessments of existing (“as-is”) workflows
• Facilitate discovery workshops and stakeholder process reviews
• Map end-to-end processes across programs, offices, and organizational functions
• Identify root causes of delays, handoff failures, bottlenecks, redundant activities, and operational inefficiencies
• Design robust future-state (“to-be”) workflows
• Streamline approval pathways and reduce unnecessary manual activities
• Improve clarity of roles, responsibilities, ownership, and process handoffs
• Evaluate and recommend automation, digital forms, approval tools, and supporting technologies
• Develop SOPs, workflow charts, roles and responsibility matrices, templates, job aids, and communication materials
• Lead pilot testing of redesigned workflows
• Define and analyze process performance metrics
• Refine workflows based on operational results and user feedback
• Coordinate implementation and scaling of redesigned workflows across organizational units
• Ensure solutions comply with applicable policies, internal controls, and federal requirements
• Provide direction and guidance to junior staff
• Review reengineering deliverables for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and quality
