About the Role

ELITS Canada is looking for an experiencedAzure API Engineer for aremote consulting assignment based in Canada.

In this role, you will support the continued development of an Integration Hub built onMicrosoft Azure API Management (APIM) andfull stack, with the goal of evolving the platform into amodern internal developer platform. You will combinehands on engineering with technical ownership across API management, developer portals, cloud infrastructure, automation, and platform improvement.

Responsibilities

• Configure, maintain, and enhanceMicrosoft Azure API Management (APIM), including API onboarding, backend integrations, routing, gateway policies, and traffic controls.

• Implement and maintainAPI authentication, authorization, security, and lifecycle management practices.

• Develop, customize, and maintainfull stack as the central developer portal for the Integration Hub.

• ManageAPI catalog entries, documentation, ownership information, metadata, and integrations across connected systems.

• Build automatedAPI specification validation, linting, and quality controls, and integrate them intocontinuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD)pipelines.

• Automate platform deployment and configuration usingInfrastructure as Code (IaC), while supporting monitoring, observability, and operational reliability.

• Troubleshoot issues acrossAPI gateways, developer portals, catalog integrations, applications, and cloud infrastructure; create documentation and drive continuous platform improvements.

Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree or higherin Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, with at leastfive years of relevant professional experience.

• Strong hands on experience withMicrosoft Azure API Management or a comparable API management platform.

• Experience developing or extendingfull stackor a similar internal developer portal.

• Solid understanding ofRepresentational State Transfer (REST) APIs,OpenAPI specifications, and API lifecycle management.

• Strong development skills inTypeScriptand JavaScript,including Node.jsand React.

• Experience withAPI securityconcepts, includingOAuth 2.0,OpenID Connect, andJSON Web Tokens (JWT).

• Experience withGit based development,CI/CD pipelines,Terraform,Bicep, or similar Infrastructure as Code and automation tools.
