Construction Laborer/ Installer

Pay: Starting at $16/hour+, based on experience

HouseSmart Construction is seeking a dependable construction laborer to support manufactured-home setup and installation activities at home sites. This hands-on, outdoor role is ideal for someone who takes pride in quality work, follows safety practices, and enjoys contributing to a hardworking team.

The Construction Laborer works under the direction of the Crew Chief and supports a variety of site-preparation, setup, construction, and clean-up activities.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with the setup and installation of manufactured homes at assigned home sites.
• Work alongside the Crew Chief and crew to complete construction tasks safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.
• Prepare home sites and materials by removing shipping wrap, storing exterior-use items, loading and unloading materials, and organizing tools, equipment, trucks, and work areas.
• Support manufactured-home setup activities, including removing tires, axles, and tongues; installing vapor barriers; laying out work areas; building piers and foundations; and assisting with masonry work underneath homes.
• Use hand and power tools safely, travel to assigned job sites, complete setup and cleanup activities, and follow company safety procedures, operating standards, and Crew Chief instructions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

• Entry-level role with hands-on training provided; construction experience is a plus, not required.
• Experience with hand and power tools and the ability to read a tape measure preferred.
• Ability to work independently or on a team with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel to job sites as needed.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and crawl underneath homes for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely perform physically demanding work in an outdoor construction environment.

Company Driving Requirements:Some positions require employees to operate company vehicles and meet specific driving qualifications. Candidates in these roles must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record. A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check will be conducted as part of the pre-employment screening process.

• For positions requiring Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance, candidates must be at least 21 years of age and must successfully obtain and maintain a valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT Health Card) by completing a DOT physical examination.

Work Schedule

• Work hours can vary based on delivery schedules, job site conditions, travel, and project needs.  Flexibility is important, as some days may finish earlier while others may require additional time to complete the job safely and efficiently.
