At Wilhelmsen Ship Management, we manage vessels safely, efficiently, and to the highest industry standards. We are now looking for an experiencedFleet Manager to lead the operational performance, safety, and commercial success of a fleet of LPG and LNG vessels.
This is a key leadership position where you will work closely with ship-owning clients, lead and develop a team of Vessel Managers, and help ensure operational excellence across the fleet. Reporting to the General Manager, you will play an important role in driving performance, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
Your main responsibilities:
Lead and support a team of Vessel Managers responsible for the day-to-day operation of LPG and LNG vessels
Ensure vessels operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with international regulations, class requirements, company management systems, and client expectations
Drive improvements in fleet performance, reliability, operational efficiency, and safety standards
Oversee maintenance planning, repairs, dry dockings, inspections, and technical performance across the fleet
Act as the primary operational contact for assigned ship-owning clients
Build strong relationships with clients and key external stakeholders
Ensure contractual commitments are delivered in accordance with Ship Management Agreements
Coach, mentor, and develop Vessel Managers and fleet support personnel
Promote a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on accountability and customer service
Support incident investigations, audits, risk assessments, and management reviews
Contribute to budgeting, cost control, and financial oversight of the fleet
Support strategic initiatives and business objectives within the organization
Act as Deputy General Manager when delegated
What we are looking for:
Previous experience as a Fleet Manager, Vessel Manager, HSEQ Superintendent, or a similar leadership role within the maritime industry
Experience with gas carriers, LNG or LPG vessel operations, and cargo handling systems is an advantage
Strong understanding of maritime regulations, class requirements, industry standards, and the ISM Code
Proven ability to manage customer relationships and engage effectively with stakeholders
Experience leading and developing teams in a multicultural environment
Education as Chief Engineer, Master Mariner, or a degree within Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline
Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
A commercial mindset combined with a customer-focused approach
Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken
