About the team:This is an opportunity to help shape the future of AI at BBH. You will work at the intersection of platform engineering, emerging AI technologies, and business transformation. As part of our AI Lab, you will have the opportunity to influence strategic technical decisions, build capabilities that enable teams across the organization, and solve challenging problems related to scalability, governance, adoption, and operationalization of Generative AI.

We are seeking a senior technology leader who can contribute to architecture decisions, mentor engineers and partner with business stakeholders to bring high-value AI use cases from concept to production. The candidate will play a key role in establishing our AI Platform as a foundation for innovation, helping the team leverage Generative AI safely, effectively, and at scale.

The ideal candidate combines deep hands-on engineering expertise in Python, platform engineering, and distributed systems with leadership skills and a strong interest in modern AI technologies, including LLMs, AI Agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and enterprise AI governance.

In our team, you will be responsible for:

• Drive the implementation of architectural decisions for AI Platform services within the team and establish technical direction for the engineering team.
• Drive the evolution of BBH's AI ecosystem by leading one of the AI Lab Agile teams from experimentation and proof-of-concepts to production-ready, enterprise-grade solutions.
• Partner with business stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and onboard high-value AI use cases.
• Define and promote engineering standards, architecture principles, and best practices across the AI Lab.
• Mentor and coach engineers while fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
• Establish reusable patterns, shared services, and platform capabilities that accelerate AI adoption across teams.
• Lead technical investigations, root cause analysis, performance tuning, and production issue resolution.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and recommend practical approaches aligned with business objectives.
• Collaborate closely with enterprise architecture, security, data, and engineering teams to ensure scalable, secure, and compliant solutions.
• Promote coding best practices, perform architecture and code reviews within the team, and guide technical decision-making.
• Create prototypes and proofs of concept to validate innovative ideas and new AI capabilities.
• Act as a trusted advisor on AI strategy, platform architecture, and technical direction.

What we’re looking for:

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including experience as a Technical Lead or Engineering Lead.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex technology initiatives.
• Experience driving technical architecture implementation and scalable software solutions.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python and modern backend development.
• Experience profiling and debugging Python applications, including memory leaks, performance bottlenecks, concurrency issues, and high CPU utilization.
• Experience processing and transforming large datasets efficiently with a focus on performance, scalability, and resource optimization.
• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming in Python, including asyncio, multiprocessing, and concurrent execution patterns.
• Experience designing and developing scalable APIs and distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of cloud-native architectures and modern platform engineering practices.
• Strong experience with software engineering fundamentals including testing strategies, CI/CD, code reviews, and clean code principles.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to influence technical direction and collaborate effectively across multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience managing production-critical systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• TOGAF certification or equivalent architecture experience.
• Experience defining architecture principles, technology standards, and technical roadmaps.
