SHIFT: Monday–Friday, 1st Shift
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to lead and strengthen automation capabilities within a regulated manufacturing environment. This role combines technical ownership, team leadership, controls troubleshooting, system standardization, and improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate brings deep automation expertise, experience leading technical personnel, and a strong understanding of regulated manufacturing requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead the automation function, including technical direction, workload prioritization, coaching, and development of automation personnel.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve PLC, HMI, controls, industrial network, and automated production systems.
- Lead root cause investigations for automation-related equipment failures and implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Develop and enforce automation standards, system backup practices, lifecycle plans, and modernization strategies.
- Drive the transition from reactive troubleshooting toward standardized, preventive, and project-based automation support.
- Lead automation activities for equipment upgrades, capital projects, process improvements, and new system implementations.
- Partner with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Validation, and IT on system performance, connectivity, compliance, and manufacturing technology initiatives.
- Ensure automation changes and systems meet applicable validation, change control, data integrity, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of professional experience in automation, controls, or manufacturing systems.
- Strong experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC platforms, HMIs, industrial controls, networks, and automated equipment.
- Experience supporting automation systems in an FDA-regulated or cGMP manufacturing environment, including data integrity, validation, and change control.
- Previous experience supervising, leading, or providing formal technical direction to automation or controls personnel.
- Demonstrated experience improving and standardizing automation environments beyond day-to-day reactive troubleshooting.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
