Research Officer - Breast Cancer Laboratory

Job Description

An exciting opportunity is available for aResearch Officer to join theBreast Cancer Laboratory within the Cancer Division at Australia's pre-eminent biomedical research institute.

About the position

The Breast Cancer Laboratory focuses on normal breast development and cancer. The laboratory has a long-standing interest in the breast differentiation hierarchy and its molecular regulators, as well as deciphering cellular and molecular mechanisms that lead to cancer and the nature of diverse breast tumour ecosystems.

The Research Officer is to contribute to the research effort and further develop their research expertise on investigating the molecular and cellular mechanisms that underpin cancer initiation and progression. The position will involve breast cancer biology, analysis of clinical tissue samples and mouse tumour models, establishment of cellular assays and use of multimodal molecular technologies. The successful applicant is expected to be self-motivated and to operate with minimal supervision under the general direction of the Laboratory Head.

Selection Criteria

  • A relevant doctoral qualification

  • An excellent academic record and achievements

  • Demonstrated ability and potential for excellence and productivity in research

  • Research experience that has resulted in publications, conference papers or reports

  • Proven interpersonal and collaborative skills in achieving research outcomes

Terms of appointment

This position is available fortwo years in afull-time capacity. Salary isResearch Employee level A6-8 ($107,192 - $115,058). Very attractive salary packaging options are available for general living expenses, meal entertainment, novated leasing and more. 12% superannuation payable, plus up to a further 5% after the first 6 months of service via our matching superannuation scheme.
