This role offers the opportunity to represent hospitals, healthcare systems, physicians, nurses, medical groups, and insurers in complex, high-exposure matters. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation experience, exceptional advocacy skills, and the ability to manage sophisticated cases from inception through trial.

Essential Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of medical malpractice and complex civil litigation matters.
• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and appellate filings.
• Develop and execute case strategy in collaboration with partners and clients.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and expert witnesses.
• Manage discovery, including written discovery, document review, and production.
• Prepare cases for mediation, arbitration, and trial.
• Represent clients in court appearances, hearings, and settlement conferences.
• Analyze medical records and collaborate with medical experts and consultants.
• Communicate effectively with clients, insurance carriers, healthcare professionals, and opposing counsel.
• Evaluate liability and damages exposure and provide strategic recommendations.
• Maintain high standards of legal excellence, professionalism, and client service.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in the California State Bar and in good standing.
• 3+ years of litigation experience, preferably in medical malpractice defense, healthcare litigation, insurance defense, or complex civil litigation.
• Strong legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Experience managing cases independently and working collaboratively within a team environment.
• Trial preparation experience required; trial experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to evaluate complex factual and legal issues and develop strategic solutions.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Medical malpractice defense experience.
• Experience representing healthcare providers, hospitals, or insurance carriers.
• Deposition and courtroom experience.
• Familiarity with expert witness coordination and medical record analysis.
• Trial or second-chair trial experience.

Compensation: $150,000 + DOE
