Job Title: Assistant Athletic Trainer
Job Description
Provide comprehensive athletic training services to support the health and safety of student athletes. Plan, coordinate, and provide injury prevention, evaluation, emergency care, treatment, rehabilitation, and reconditioning services. Maintain appropriate medical documentation and collaborate with students, parents, coaches, physicians, nurses and athletic staff to support safe participation in athletic activities and compliance with All-Saints' policies and procedures, TAPPS, and applicable state athletic training scope of practice requirements.
Athletic Training/Injury Prevention and Emergency Care
Attend practice sessions and athletic contests as assigned by the Athletic Director or Head Athletic Trainer.
Establish and maintain effective communication with students, parents, medical personnel, coaches, and staff through approved school channels.
Plan and implement a comprehensive athletic injury and illness prevention program for student-athletes.
Prepare athletes for practices and competitions using evaluations, taping, wrapping, bracing, splints, and specialized protective equipment.
Provide therapeutic exercise, reconditioning, and care for injured student-athletes.
Respond to medical emergencies and RAPTOR ALERTS, providing acute injury assessment, first aid, and timely independent care decisions within scope of practice.
Execute emergency action plans for athletic activities and ensure required emergency equipment is accessible and ready for use.
Monitor environmental conditions (including heat safety and hydration) and enforce concussion protocols, maintaining compliance with district, TAPPS, and NFHS guidelines.
Rehabilitation/Reconditioning
Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans, including therapeutic goals and objectives, for student athletes receiving care.
Apply appropriate therapeutic modalities and instruct student athletes in therapeutic exercises and the proper use of rehabilitation equipment.
Evaluate, document, and communicate rehabilitation of progress and establish appropriate criteria for progression and return to practice and competition.
Follow professional, ethical, legal, and medical guidelines regarding treatment, rehabilitation, and the use of therapeutic agents.
Provide reasonable opportunities for student athletes to receive evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation services before and after practices, competitions, and non-academic periods, including additional treatment outside the regular school day when necessary.
Administration
Coordinate and maintain required athletic physical examinations, treatment logs, medical clearances, and other student-athlete health documentation.
Maintain accurate, current, and confidential injury, treatment, rehabilitation, accident, and medical records in accordance with TAPPS, and applicable legal requirements.
Maintain required student-athlete information and documentation in the school's designated athletic management system, including physicals, medical forms, injury and treatment information, and medical clearances.
Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and appropriately secured athletic training room.
Maintain an inventory of athletic training supplies and equipment and request replacement or replenishment as needed.
Follow school safety protocols and emergency procedures, including procedures related to inclement weather and environmental conditions.
Prepare and maintain appropriate athletic training supplies, medical equipment, and emergency resources for home and away athletic activities.
Communicate athletic training coverage changes, significant injuries, treatment progress, and participation restrictions to appropriate coaches and athletic staff in a timely manner.
Ability to utilize the following online software for medical records, concussion baseline screening, and rehabilitation services such as August Schools, Sway Medical, PocketPro

Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Master's degree in Athletic Training
Valid BOC Athletic Training Certification
Valid Texas Athletic Training License
BLS CPR/AED Certification
CPR/AED Instructor Certification
TSATA Sports Medicine Class Instructor
Mental/Physical and Environmental Demands
Tools/Equipment Used: Athletic training, rehabilitation, therapeutic, emergency medical, and standard office equipment.
Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Continual walking; moderate reaching
Lifting: Frequently moderate lifting or carrying (15-55 pounds)
Environment: Work outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather) and inside; exposure to noise; exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases; frequent districtwide and statewide travel
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent prolonged and irregular hours
