About the Position

We are seeking aDesign Build Integrator to join the team inSt. Louis, Missouri. This position owns the design-build process from sale and pricing through design, buyout, and handoff to Project Management.

The Design Build Integrator will coordinate internal engineering teams, external design partners, estimating, preconstruction, permitting, surveying, and field operations. The role is responsible for identifying design gaps, controlling risk, finding cost efficiencies, and ensuring projects are ready for construction before they pass the buyout gate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate design from pursuit through construction handoff.
  • Review plans and specifications foraccuracy, cost, constructability, quality, and scope gaps.
  • Select and manage external engineering and design partners, including negotiating scopes, fees, agreements, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate architectural, structural, MEP, geotechnical, landscape, and specialty design disciplines.
  • Lead constructability, sequencing, and value-engineering reviews.
  • Identify and quantify savings through material selection, design alternatives, sequencing, and site/earthwork optimization.
  • Monitor design development against the contracted budget and identify cost or schedule variances.
  • Own the buyout process and ensure scope, cost ownership, and risk are clearly defined before construction.
  • Review contract terms and identify exposure related to delays, warranties, indemnity, insurance, and design responsibility.
  • Coordinate permitting and agency requirements and help resolve issues that could impact project schedules.
  • Execute thorough design-to-construction handoffs, including assumptions, allowances, open items, and basis of design.
  • Serve as the design point of contact for changes, submittals, and agency issues through project closeout.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Estimating, Engineering, Survey, Permitting, Project Management, and Field Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree inEngineering, Construction Management, Engineering Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive design and construction experience.
  • Direct experience coordinating multiple design disciplines ondesign-build or alternative delivery projects.
  • Hands-on field construction experience.
  • Experience managing external engineering/design consultants, including selection, scoping, fee negotiation, deliverables, and performance.
  • Experience managing$5M+ construction projects, including cost, schedule, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents, constructability, estimating, and project risk.
  • Experience developing design agreements and subcontracts with an emphasis on scope definition and risk allocation.
  • Proficiency withAutoCAD or Civil 3D, Bluebeam, document control platforms, estimating systems, and construction accounting/job-cost systems.
  • Strong ability to translate technical design decisions into cost, schedule, and commercial impacts.
  • Sports facility, specialty surfacing, site development, or earthwork design-build experience is preferred.
  • PE license and DBIA certification are preferred.
  • Experience withEOS, Scaling Up, or a similar operating system is a plus.
