What you'll be doing
As an Associate, Supervision & Governance, you will play a key role in the transaction monitoring and oversight of CIBC's Global Correspondent Banking franchise. Working closely with senior members of the AML Advisory and Correspondent Banking teams, you will review Canadian dollar payment activity to identify unusual patterns, anomalies, and potential risks. This is a dynamic risk management role focused on safeguarding the integrity of financial transactions across a global network of financial institutions, including banks, money services businesses, payment service providers, and other financial market participants.
In this role, you will gain exposure to a broad range of Global Transaction Banking and Capital Markets products while collaborating with senior leaders, business partners, and relationship managers across North and South America, Europe, EMEA, and APAC. You will work alongside experienced professionals across Supervision & Governance, Global Transaction Banking, Capital Markets, and Risk Management, providing valuable opportunities to build relationships, deepen your expertise in financial crime risk management, and accelerate your professional growth within a highly collaborative and global environment.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $82,000 - $95,000.
The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.
In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.

How you'll succeed
Â
- Drive effective transaction monitoring - You will leverage strong analytical and investigative skills to review payment activity flowing through CIBC’s Canadian dollar correspondent banking Vostro accounts. By identifying unusual patterns, trends, and potential financial crime risks, you will help ensure transactions are appropriately assessed, escalated, and managed in accordance with regulatory requirements and the Bank’s risk appetite.
- Provide oversight of down streaming activity - You will conduct detailed reviews of down streaming relationships and payment flows to enhance transparency into underlying transaction activity. Through data analysis and risk-based assessments, you will identify emerging risks, understand client payment behavior, and support informed decisions that strengthen oversight of CIBC’s global correspondent banking portfolio.
- Build strong partnerships across the organization -Success in this role requires effective collaboration with teams across Supervision & Governance, AML Advisory, Global Transaction Banking, Compliance, Risk Management, and Operations. By building trusted relationships, sharing insights, and contributing to cross-functional initiatives, you will help drive a strong risk culture and support the continued enhancement of the Bank’s transaction monitoring framework.
- Continuously enhance your expertise and impact - You will develop a strong understanding of correspondent banking, payment flows, financial crime typologies, and regulatory expectations. By staying current on emerging risks, industry trends, and evolving monitoring techniques, you will contribute to the ongoing enhancement of transaction monitoring practices while building the skills and knowledge needed to grow your career in AML, financial crime risk management, and global banking.

Who you are
- You can demonstrate experience.In transaction monitoring, transaction banking, AML, fraud, analytics, corporate banking, finance administration, correspondent banking, payments, financial institutions coverage, and/or a related financial services experience. You have experience supporting business development or risk management initiatives. You have experience preparing presentations, reports, financial analysis, and management reporting.
- You have a degree.In Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, and/or a related discipline. Master of Finance, Master of Analytics, Master of Financial Risk Management, or a similar graduate degree is considered a strong asset. Professional designations related to Transaction monitoring, Fraud, AML, or related credentials are considered an asset.
