This is a full-time associate role on a growing national private companies team at a leading global law firm, focused on advising life sciences companies and the investors who back them. The team works across the full company lifecycle, from early-stage formation and venture financings through growth rounds and liquidity events, and plays a central role in shaping the firm's national life sciences platform.
The ideal candidate is a 3rd through 6th year associate who has spent meaningful time in the corporate department of a national or international law firm, with a strong track record advising venture-backed life sciences companies. A standout academic background from a nationally recognized law school and genuine enthusiasm for building a practice, not just working in one, will set the right person apart.
Key Responsibilities
1. Advise early-stage and growth-stage life sciences companies on general corporate matters across their full development cycle
2. Counsel clients on venture capital financings, including seed, Series A through late-stage rounds, and related transaction structuring
3. Support and lead liquidity event transactions such as M and A processes and IPO readiness work
4. Serve as a trusted day-to-day legal advisor to founders, management teams, and investor clients
5. Participate in business development activities including speaking engagements and thought leadership contributions
6. Contribute to the continued development and expansion of the firm's national private companies platform
7. Mentor junior associates and support knowledge-sharing within the team
Required Skills & Experience
• 3 to 6 years of corporate associate experience at a national or international law firm
• Substantial experience advising venture-backed companies, with a clear focus on the life sciences sector
• Hands-on experience with venture capital financings and liquidity event transactions
• Strong academic record from a nationally recognized law school
• Active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction or eligibility to waive in
Preferred Skills
• Experience advising life sciences companies across multiple stages of growth, from startup through pre-IPO
• Demonstrated interest in practice development, client relationship building, or industry speaking engagements
• Familiarity with both company-side and investor-side representations in venture transactions
