The Accounting and Financial Management department at Bucknell University’s Freeman College of Management invites applications for a full time, tenure-track faculty position in Finance, to contribute to the College's mission of providing a rigorous, experiential education, in the context of one of the nation's leading liberal arts universities. The appointment is slated to begin in August 2027.

 

We seek a motivated candidate with a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in finance (or a field appropriate for teaching finance) from an accredited higher education institution. A successful candidate will demonstrate an appreciation of Bucknell's liberal arts tradition and be willing and capable of teaching introductory and upper-level courses in the department's finance major. We expect to hire a senior colleague at the Associate or Professor level, with a short tenure clock. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The teaching load for this position is five course sections per academic year.


The successful candidate will also be named as the James & Elizabeth Freeman Professor. This initial appointment into the professorship is for three years and it is renewable.

Our new colleague will have an established record of excellence in teaching, preferably at the undergraduate level, an established record of research, and a commitment to continued contributions in both teaching and scholarship. The Freeman College supports both traditional scholarship and creative scholarship that transcends disciplinary boundaries. Faculty have access to major finance and accounting research databases through the Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS) and the Freeman College hosts an investment lab with access to Bloomberg terminals.

 

This position offers a rare opportunity to actively shape a young academic unit. As a senior colleague, you will have a strong voice in setting our strategic trajectory, mentoring junior faculty, and guiding broader curricular development. You will also have room to champion key program initiatives, including our CFA- and CFP-aligned pathways, while helping lay the groundwork for our future growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Candidates must possess a graduate degree (or commensurate professional experience) in a field appropriate for teaching undergraduate finance courses.
  • Candidates must demonstrate an established a record of teaching excellence.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a sustained record of scholarly productivity commensurate with an appointment at the Associate or Full Professor rank.
