What to Expect

Tesla was founded in 2003 with the goal of accelerating the transition to sustainable energy and protecting the planet Earth. Through solar energy, batteries, and electric vehicles, we are building a world of amazing abundance.

At Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, we manufacture the Model Y, and starting in 2027, we’ll produce everything from battery cells to electric vehicles. This is unique in Europe. Our international team consists of over 12,000 employees from 130 countries. We hire talent at all skill levels - prior experience in the automotive industry is not required. Would you like to help write the next chapter in Tesla’s success story and work at one of Germany’s most modern workplaces? Then this is the right place for you!

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to develop new processes and high-volume automation equipment with the cell manufacturing team in Fremont, CA. You will work closely with internal teams including Product Design, Controls, Operations, Quality, and coordinate with equipment suppliers to develop and validate new manufacturing systems. You will take ownership of new process development, process optimization for pilot-scale and mass production equipment, leading experiments, data analysis, and process characterization. You will also support the technical transfer of processes and tools to production, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and throughput.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and execute experiments to evaluate and optimize manufacturing processes
  • Analyze process data to identify key parameters, trends, and equipment performance
  • Develop hypotheses and theories to explain observed process phenomena and validate them through structured experimentation
  • Support design, commissioning, and validation of pilot and production equipment
  • Perform measurement system analysis (e.g., Gage R&R, bias, linearity) to ensure inspection reliability
  • Lead root cause analysis and contribute to process capability and OEE improvement
  • Plan and conduct Factory and Site Acceptance Tests (FAT/SAT) for new or modified equipment
  • Create manufacturing instructions, process flows, FMEA, and inspection methodologies for new products

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree or Equivalent Experience in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
  • 2–4 years of experience in high volume and pilot manufacturing or process development, preferably with roll-to-roll or winding processes
  • Experience improving manufacturing processes using data analysis software (Minitab, JMP)
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute experiments, analyze data, and apply structured problem-solving (DOE, FMEA, 5-Why)
  • Hands-on experience with automation, sensors and PLC-controlled equipment in pilot or production environments
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, analytical mindset, and ability to translate observations into scalable process improvements

Not only do we offer you an attractive compensation package, but also access to a wide range of perks and benefits. For example:

  • Our own medical center, a gym and an in-house barbershop.
  • E-bike charging stations in front of the factory, more than 500 free charging stations for electric cars, a bike leasing program, free use of the nextbike bike-sharing fleet, as well as numerous free shuttle bus routes to GrĂĽnheide and the surrounding areas.
  • You’ll receive subsidized canteen meals, a free S-membership at the Urban Sports Club (discount from M+) and you can sign up for many language courses.
  • We also offer all employees a wide range of insurance options, such as a company pension plan, as well as discounts on private insurance and legal protection insurance.

These and many other benefits await you. Join Tesla and help us build a world of amazing abundance.

Candidates are expected to uphold and actively promote sustainability principles in their daily work, operating in line with Tesla Global Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Policy and EMAS requirements, fostering a culture of continuous environmental improvement.
