Associate, Insurance & Risk ManagementJob Description:
The Associate, Insurance & Risk Management supports HITT’s property & casualty (P&C), subcontractor default insurance (SDI), surety, and captive insurance programs across the company’s family of operating companies. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Insurance & Risk Management, the Associate handles day-to-day program administration and serves as a resource for operations, finance, and legal teams.
The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in P&C insurance, an interest in the construction industry, and a desire to grow into a well-rounded risk management professional.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Insurance Program Support
· Support the administration of enterprise-wide P&C programs, including general liability, workers’ compensation, auto, property, umbrella, professional, pollution, cyber, and management liability.
· Support annual renewals by gathering underwriting data, preparing submissions, and comparing coverage and pricing options.
· Review policies, endorsements, and binders for accuracy, and maintain policy records and schedules of insurance.
· Coordinate day-to-day requests with brokers, carriers, and loss control consultants.
Surety
· Prepare bid, performance, and payment bond requests, coordinate issuance with the surety broker, and maintain the bond log through release and closeout.
· Help compile financial and project information for surety underwriting reviews.
Captive Support
· Work with the captive manager to meet regulatory filing, financial reporting, and compliance deadlines.
· Gather data for actuarial studies, loss reserve reviews, and premium allocations.
· Help prepare materials for captive audits and board meetings.
Contractual Risk Transfer & Compliance
· Review construction contracts, subcontracts, and vendor agreements for insurance and surety requirements, and escalate non-standard terms to the Senior Manager.
· Track certificates of insurance (COIs) and subcontractor insurance compliance, including SDI enrollment, and issue COIs and additional insured endorsements to project owners.
· Answer routine insurance questions from project teams and operating companies.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience accepted in lieu of degree.
· Professional designation (CPCU, ARM, or CRIS) or active P&C license preferred, or a willingness to pursue one.
· 2 to 3 years of experience in commercial insurance, risk management, surety, or a related field, with a brokerage, carrier, or corporate risk department.
· Exposure to the construction, manufacturing, or logistics industries preferred.
· Experience with certificate of insurance tracking, claims administration, or surety bond requests a plus.
· Working knowledge of commercial P&C coverage lines, with the ability to read and interpret policy language and contract insurance requirements.
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data management, formulas, pivot tables, and charting.
· Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain insurance concepts to non-specialists.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
· Proactive learner who takes ownership of assigned work.
· Collaborative team player who builds strong relationships across departments and with outside partners.
In accordance with Virginia Senate Bill 215 (SB 215), the base salary range for this position is:
$67,000.00 - $87,000.00
Compensation in other cities and states may vary. HITT Contracting offers a competitive total benefits and compensation package including performance-based bonuses, premium health care coverage including vision and dental, employer-matched 401(k), wellness reimbursement program, paid holidays and time-off, and other voluntary benefits and leave types. The determination of salary is based on the candidate’s individual professional experience, qualifications, education, skills, and training.
