Opportunity Overview

At Edward Jones, we partner for positive impact to improve the lives of our clients and colleagues, and together, better our communities and society. Our Legal team advances that purpose by helping the firm make thoughtful decisions, manage risk, and build sustainable practices.

The Opportunity

Edward Jones is seeking an experienced employment attorney to join the Legal division's collaborative Talent team and advise on sophisticated, enterprise-wide employment law matters. This broad advice and counseling role offers the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of matters, partner directly with Human Capital and business leaders, and see your guidance put into practice across a complex, multi-state organization. You will draw on substantive wage-and-hour experience while expanding the breadth of your practice across a wide range of employment law matters. With support from experienced colleagues, you will help shape practical solutions, policies, compensation programs, and workforce practices. The role reports to the Talent Team Leader.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide practical, business-oriented advice to Human Capital and business leaders on a wide range of employment law matters, including performance management, discipline, investigations, leaves, accommodations, reorganizations, and reductions in force.
  • Serve as a lead legal resource on wage-and-hour compliance, including classification, overtime, incentive compensation, timekeeping, meal and rest periods, and federal, state, and local pay requirements.
  • Lead or support multi-state classification reviews, pay-practice assessments, compliance audits, and remediation efforts.
  • Partner with Human Capital, Finance, and business leaders on the design and implementation of compensation and incentive programs.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and translate them into clear guidance, policy updates, and proactive compliance strategies.
  • Draft and review employment policies, agreements, workplace standards, and other guidance materials.
  • Assess legal and litigation risk and help Human Capital and business leaders move from issue identification to sound, workable decisions.
  • Develop and deliver training and contribute to broader Legal and business initiatives, including workforce planning, due diligence, and integration matters.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Legal and outside counsel on selected investigations, disputes, and other matters.

Why Edward Jones

  • At least five years of progressively responsible legal experience, including meaningful employment advice and counseling experience.
  • Substantive experience advising on wage-and-hour matters, such as multi-state pay practices, exempt and nonexempt classification, compensation programs, or compliance reviews.
