Responsibilities

  • Oversee implementation and handling of the daily operation, guest and crew experience aspects for the Nursery and Youth Spaces (3-7 years) operations for the ship and Castaway Cay, if applicable based upon ship, including the supervision of counselors assigned to these venues
  • Oversee general operations and maintenance of Disney’s Oceaneer Club, the Nursery, Scuttle’s Cove (shared with appropriate Youth Activities Manager) and all remote locations with regard to the department’s use of these spaces
  • Conduct random spot checks of attendance, record keeping, supervision, and crew performance to ensure safety of overall operation
  • Create schedule of all activities and programs to be offered each cruise
  • Partner with purchasing and logistics to maintain stock; ensuring necessary supplies are in inventory
  • Serve as consistent line of communication for Youth Activities Counselors
  • Handle guest issues as they arise
  • Serve as duty manager to oversee all events during specified times
  • Work with Youth Activities leaders to adhere to departmental budget
  • Ensure accurate reports for cruise counts and other pertinent information is completed, collected and sent shoreside for historical data collection
  • Manage the proper storing of hazardous materials in operations within their control, including regular inventory and availability in MSDS
  • Ensure that each crew member assigned to their area are qualified, certified, trained, drilled, and fit to meet all required standards and that they have a working knowledge of the rules applicable to their position
  • Monitor and observe Youth Programs for Disney show quality
  • Participate in all Castaway Cay job responsibilities associated with position and line of business as directed by DCL leadership
  • Execute additional job responsibilities, as assigned by DCL leadership, based on operational need
  • Comply with all company set policies and procedures, along with all maritime and ship rules, regulations and procedures
  • Participate in Emergency Duties as specified in the ship Assembly Plan

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum two to three years experience working in a high volume childcare operation, preferably in a recreational/leisure/camp setting
  • Experience in scheduling large groups (crew)
  • Exceptional guest service skills
  • Must be receptive to CPR training while employed with DCL
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to anticipate and solve problems quickly
  • Computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Be able to speak, read and write fluent English
  • Willingness to live and work onboard one of our vessels for a certain length of time (based on position)
  • Be able to work a seven-day, 70-84 hour week with limited time off
  • Be able to adhere to Disney Cruise Line appearance guidelines
  • Agree to share a cabin with other crew members
  • Enjoy working in a high-volume, fast-paced, guest-service oriented environment
  • Be flexible with your work schedule, job duties and work locations
  • Appreciate diversity among guests and crew

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous leadership experience
  • Degree in related field
  • Familiarity with inventory, ordering and budgeting
  • Ship experience

Your Responsibilities:

  • Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
  • Complete a pre-employment medical
  • Obtain a criminal background check
  • Bring approved work shoes
