As an Assistant Wet Cleaning Specialist, you will manage the use of wet cleaning equipment, work process and quality care of delicate fabrics.

You will report to Wet Cleaning Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Manage the maintenance of all wet cleaning equipment, daily inspections, cleanliness, and safety of the working area.
  • Oversee the use of the wet cleaning equipment including the use of weighted load.
  • Expertise in stain removal technique.
  • Oversee the care of delicate fabrics and stain removal on the wet cleaning items.
  • Conduct quality inspection of all garments before and after a wet cleaning cycle. Report any damage item to the Laundry Manager.
  • Manage the ironing of all delicate garments.
  • Verify the proper use of the safety equipment.
  • Maintain proper supply, maintenance, inspections, and chemical usage.
  • Partner with the Laundry Manager and Engineering team for regular maintenance and deep cleaning.
  • See that all appropriate chemicals are used and disposed of, according to the approved SDS and chemical list.
  • Be honest and have integrity in all action and performance toward desired outcome.
  • Meet all Disney Cruise Line and VSP sanitation expectations and requirements.
  • Meet Coast Guard Standards in designated areas.
  • Report equipment deficiencies and follow up on any AIMS entries.
  • Emergency responsibilities as specified in the ships Assembly Stations and Emergency Function Plan.
  • SMS – uphold the general safety management responsibilities in areas and operations under their control.

Basic Qualifications

  • Two years previous laundry experience shipboard or in 200+ hotel
  • Previous Assistant Wet Cleaning Specialist experience
  • Experience in stain removal and chemical handling
  • Knowledgeable in the care for different type of fabrics

This is a SHIPBOARD role.

You must:

  • Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
  • Be committed to the position you are applying for at least 2-3 contracts before a transfer or promotion
  • Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency duties and/or associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
  • Be willing and able to uphold the general safety management responsibilities specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
  • Be willing to follow and embrace United States Public Health requirements and guidelines as well as Environmentality requirements and Company practices
  • Be willing to be appreciative of working and living in a multi-cultural environment
  • Be comfortable living in a confined space with strict rules and regulations
  • Adhere to a structured lifestyle, personally and professionally

 

Your Responsibilities:

  • Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
  • Complete a pre-employment medical
  • Obtain a criminal background check
  • Bring approved work shoes
