The Position

Kaufman, Hall & Associates, LLC, is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Healthcare Insights to lead a multi-disciplinary team responsible for building, launching, and continuously improving a new health-system intelligence capability for Kaufman Hall consultants.

 

Reporting to the Innovation and Insights Leader, the Assistant Vice President will provide day-to-day leadership for Kaufman Hall’s next gen insights capability, translating business needs into a focused roadmap and guiding the development of a comprehensive health-system data and insights capability. The role will work closely with business leaders, healthcare subject-matter experts, data scientists, and technology partners to ensure the insight engine delivers reliable, meaningful, and accessible insights that strengthen consulting work and support complex client questions.

 

The successful candidate will combine deep knowledge of health-system performance with strong business judgment, technical fluency, and exceptional communication and project management skills. This individual will be a curious and proactive leader who thrives in building new capabilities, solving complex problems, and operating in an evolving environment. The role requires the ability to work independently, make sound decisions with limited direction, and effectively translate among healthcare, business, and technical stakeholders to ensure Kaufman Hall’s Insights Engine delivers meaningful value to the organization.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Insight engine team in the design, development, launch, maintenance, and continuous evolution of the Insights Engine, with accountability for team priorities, roadmap, work quality, timely delivery, and the successful development of a trusted health-system intelligence capability.
  • Apply knowledge of health-system market, financial and operating data and performance indicators to guide the development of the Insights Engine and ensure its data, measures, methodologies, and insights are accurate, meaningful, and relevant to consulting work.
  • Serve as the primary translator between business leaders, healthcare subject-matter experts, data scientists, and technology professionals, connecting business needs to technical solutions and communicating technical concepts in clear business terms.
  • Establish appropriate standards and processes for data quality, analytical validation, source reliability, documentation, and responsible use of insights.
  • Partner with leaders and subject-matter experts across Kaufman Hall to validate use cases, gather feedback, resolve priorities, and build confidence in the capability.
  • Lead the adoption and continuous improvement of the Insights Engine by demonstrating its value, supporting effective use across consulting teams, and guiding enhancements based on business needs and user feedback.

 

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Significant experience in healthcare consulting, health-system finance, healthcare market analytics, healthcare benchmarking, and/or related fields.
  • Deep knowledge of health-system financial and operating performance, including the ability to interpret financial statements, operational metrics, performance indicators, and relationships among key measures.
  • Experience leading complex analytical, data-enabled, or technology-supported initiatives from concept through implementation.
  • Ability to translate business needs into analytical and technical requirements and communicate complex concepts effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Strong analytical judgment and problem-solving skills, including the ability to make informed decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • Demonstrated project or team leadership experience, including prioritizing work, managing stakeholders, and driving delivery of complex initiatives.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to build credibility and influence across business, technical, and executive audiences.
  • Ability to operate independently and exercise sound judgment within a new and evolving function.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required

Physical Requirements 

  • Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations
  • Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading

 

Work Environment 

  • Travel Required: Occasional 0-10%.
  • The role is remote (Chicago preferred).
  • Work is regularly performed in a home office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment.
  • It may require the maintenance of a home office and proximity to an airport for work related travel.

Estimated Hiring Range:

At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $130,000 to $195,000.
