Assistant Track & Field Coaches: Hurdles, Jumps, Pole Vault, Throws

Holy Names Academy is an all-girls Catholic high school founded in 1880 by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. The school offers excellent academic, arts, athletic, spiritual, and leadership programs that promote the development of the whole person in an environment of inclusion, collaboration, and community. Holy Names Academy is located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle. HNA sports teams practice at various sites around the city. 

Our Track & Field program is seeking 3-4 dedicated Assistant Coaches to join our coaching staff:

• Assistant Coach – Hurdles
  • Primary responsibility: Coach athletes in hurdles, focusing on technical development and performance improvement.
  • Preferred qualifications: Background in hurdle-specific training, technique, and event preparation. 
• Assistant Coach – Jumps
  • Primary responsibility: Coach athletes in horizontal and/or vertical jumps, focusing on technical development and performance improvement.
  • Preferred qualifications: Background in jump-specific training and event preparation.
• Assistant Coach – Pole Vault
  • Primary responsibility: Coach athletes in pole vault, focusing on safe technical development and performance improvement. 
  • Must obtain WIAA Pole Vault Coaches Training before March 1
  • Preferred qualifications: Background in pole vault specific training, technique, and safety practices.

• Assistant Coach – Throws
  • Primary responsibility: Coach athletes in throwing events, including javelin, focusing on technical development and performance improvement. 
  • Preferred qualifications: Background in throw-specific training and event preparation, with demonstrated experience coaching javelin preferred. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to teach event-specific skills, techniques, and appropriate conditioning and training programs. 
• Supervision and instruction of track and field athletes during all team activities. 
• Effective communication with student athletes and their families.  
• Ability to work collaboratively with coaches in the HNA track and field program. 
• Take direction from the Program Head and Athletic Director as needed. 
• Seek continuing education opportunities and professional development opportunities in your sport (clinics, attending college practices, working camps, etc.). 
• Maintain compliance with all Holy Names Academy, Metro League, and Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) rules and regulations. 

Qualifications

Requirements and Qualifications

• Prior coaching experience at the high school, youth, or club level preferred
• 25 years of age or older.
• Possess a valid Washington State Driver's License.
• Available for practices Monday - Friday, 3:00pm - 5:00pm, and scheduled meets (dates and times vary).
• Current First Aid and CPR and certifications, or willingness to obtain certification prior to the start of the season.
• Must be willing and able to drive a 14-passenger minibus (training provided).
• Successful completion of a criminal background check, fingerprints and Safe Environment training prior to start of season. 

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary Range: $3100 - 3600, paid over the season. Salary is based on skills and experience. 
• Benefits: paid sick leave, Funds available for professional development opportunities.
