ExemptJob Description:
Analyzes performance and instructs student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition in track. Recruit student athletes. Observes players while they perform to determine need for individual or team improvement. Coach players individually or in groups, demonstrating techniques in track throws events.
- Assists with coaching and recruiting for the Track program. Designs and implements workouts for throwers.
- Knowledge of and compliance with all rules and changes that occur in the sport of Track.
- Provides instruction and feedback to the throwers, during and after games. Assists with management of game day preparation and activities.
- Knowledge of, and compliance with, NCAA rules and regulations concerning recruiting and eligibility.
- Assists with managing the throws facility.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Abides by NCAA Division III Track & Field.
- Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interact with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.
- Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.
- Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATION
Required:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.
Preferred:
Master's degree or equivalent from four-year college or university.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
1 year of experience as an assistant coach and/or as a student athlete in throws.
Preferred:
- 3 years of experience.
- Experience coaching collegiate throws, preferably at Division III level.
- Multiple years coaching at the intercollegiate level and/or any equivalent combination of experience and training (educational courses, etc.) that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Required:
- Effectiveness in the recruitment of student athletes and the instructional aspects of coaching.
- NCAA rules (General & Division III).
- Coaching, recruiting, scouting, and scheduling.
- Management, leadership, and teaching.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
- Detail-oriented and well organized.
- Critical thinking skills, adaptability, and initiative.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and have a good driving history. May not have more than two moving violations in a three-year period.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
All jobs require a current Criminal Background Check (CBC).
This job involves a commitment of ten hour per week during the fall semester/season.
