- Accountable for the corrective maintenance of shipboard equipment and structures
- Able to perform the following :
- Repair and replacement of steel structures, such as railings, deck plating and pipe-work
- Repair of doors, window washing system, scrubbing machines, deck vacuum cleaners and other deck equipment
- Fabrication in steel, other metals and synthetic materials
- General maintenance duties as per AB position directed by supervisors
- Keeps work area, tools, machinery, instruments and other equipment tidy and clean
- Familiar with all safety and technical equipment used by the Deck Department
- Familiar with and complies with the ship’s SMS at all times, including the environmental policy
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Officer or Bosun
- SMS responsibilities as specified in SMS 1 in areas under their control
- Takes part in standby on the mooring deck, tender operation, and gangway duties as required
- Accountable for the quality and final result of the welded areas to be refurbished and repaired
- Responsible for safety procedures and fire precautions, especially when performing hot work, storing and handling hazardous materials
- Responsible for guiding the crew in all technical matters to accomplish the best results in the shortest time
- Reports for work on time: clean, tidy and dressed in the appropriate uniform
- Flexibility to adjust to project needs as required
- Exemplifies Disney standards and traditions when interacting with Guests and fellow Crew Members
- Emergency Duties as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum six months experience working as a Welder/Repairman (prefer cruise ships) on ships preventive maintenance
- Strong organizational skills
- Good communicator and able to work under time pressure
- Detail oriented
Knowledgeable in:
- Electric and gas welding equipment & procedures
- All fabrication works related to ship maintenance
Additional Information
This is a SHIPBOARD role.You must:
- Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
- Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities, and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
- Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
- If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulations
- Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
- Complete a pre-employment medical
- Obtain a criminal background check
- Bring approved work shoes
