Project Manager – Orbital Construction Coordinator Program

Position Overview

The Project Manager will support the Orbital Construction Coordinator Program Management Team and work closely with the Project Manager on large-scale construction projects. This role provides project coordination, technical/IT support, reporting, project controls, and assistance with project planning and execution.

The position includes training and introductions and requires the ability to work across project integration, cost, schedule, quality, risk, procurement, human resources, stakeholder communication, governance, safety, and environmental objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide field technical and IT support for the entire Coordinator group.

  • Support the development of policies, procedures, training materials, and related documentation.

  • Prepare regular reports, including weekend coverage, project accruals, and other project-related reporting.

  • Monitor project costs, schedules, performance metrics, and project controls.

  • Provide additional support to the Orbital Construction Coordinator Program Management Team as needed.

  • Work alongside the Project Manager to support large-scale construction projects.

  • Apply project integration processes to effectively initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control, and transition projects to the customer.

  • Support the accomplishment of project objectives related to safety, cost, schedule, human resources, and other non-product objectives.

  • Apply product life-cycle and project integration practices to align project resources for optimal productivity.

  • Support product-to-project scope configuration management.

  • Assist with leading, managing, and directing project teams and stakeholders.

  • Apply quality management processes throughout project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and control to support customer satisfaction.

  • Apply risk management processes to identify, manage, monitor, and control project risks and deliver project objectives.

  • Support procurement management activities to effectively manage project and product risks and opportunities.

  • Apply cost management practices to estimate, budget, monitor, and control project costs.

  • Apply schedule management practices to plan, schedule, monitor, and deliver projects within established timelines.

  • Utilize the NIPSCO risk management utility in the development and management of projects, human resources, and stakeholders.

  • Apply NIPSCO human resource processes and skills to support effective project team coordination and performance.

  • Use effective human resource tools and techniques to motivate and manage contractor performance.

  • Effectively engage project stakeholders and manage stakeholder requirements, expectations, and conflicts.

  • Apply communication management practices to manage and control project stakeholder communications.

  • Support project governance and effective communication to ensure project safety and environmental objectives are achieved.

  • Manage projects in accordance with industry best practices, NIPSCO Organizational Process Assets, Project Management Guidelines, and established standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field plus 2 years of technical experience, or

  • 5 years of project management, architectural/engineering, or technical experience.

  • Experience as an Existing Construction Manager (CM), Project Engineer 2 (PE2), or Senior Project Developer.

  • Expanding knowledge of project management methodologies, processes, tools, techniques, and software.

  • Project management knowledge consistent with Level 3 maturity.

  • Expanded understanding of project management guidelines, standards, processes, and job aids.

  • Experience with Project Management Information Systems ( PMIS) and their integration.

  • Experience with scheduling software, risk management software, cost management software, performance metrics, dashboards, and project controls information.

  • Increasing proficiency in leadership, management, organizational theory, and interpersonal skills using situational leadership.

  • Ability to manage project stakeholders through effective communication, decision-making, conflict resolution, innovation, teamwork, and personal effectiveness.

  • Ability to work efficiently under stringent deadlines, schedules, and working conditions.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
