Position SummaryÂ
Under general direction of the Head of Circulation Services,the Assistant Head of CirculationServicesassists inoverseeing thecirculationservices staff and performs circulation duties.Â
This is a full-time, 40-hour-a-week position, starting at a pay rate of $21.02 per hour, that includes vacation and holiday pay, and sick, emergency and bereavement leave. Includes days, evenings, and weekends. Job is on site, not remote.Â
The position remains open until filled.
Duties andResponsibilitie
- Performs all circulation duties according to priorityÂ
- Performs shelving duties, including shelf maintenance Â
- Provides general service to patrons Â
- Responsible for continuous professional development through attendance at meetings, conferences, in-service trainingsessions and committee assignmentsÂ
- May serve as committee chairÂ
- Serves as building supervisorÂ
- Serves as department supervisorÂ
- May oversee and restock supplies for the departmentÂ
- Maintains bulletin boardÂ
- Performs other duties as assigned Â
Managerial DutiesÂ
- Acts as a mentor to new employeesÂ
- Assists in the interview andselection of employees, trains, andmonitors the work of employees and ensures understanding of policies and proceduresÂ
- Oversees and recommends purchase of supplies and equipment for the departmentÂ
- Ensures effective communication of information to all employeesÂ
- Organize, prioritize, and schedule work dutiesÂ
- Conducts departmental staff meetingsÂ
- Prepares departmental records and reportsÂ
Qualifications Â
Education and Experience Â
- AssociatesorBachelor’sdegreeÂ
- 1 – 2 years’ supervisory experience or 2 years circulation experience.Â
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Â
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related librarysoftwareÂ
- Ability to plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of othersÂ
- Develop andmaintain effective working relationships with supervisor and co-workers Â
- Interact and communicate appropriately with patrons and staff Â
- Present a positive, professional image to the public Â
- Ability to be discreet with personal information Â
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Â
- This joboperates in a professional environment with exposure to central climate control, overhead lighting, and low- to- moderate noise levels. The environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of offices, which include the need for general safe workplace practice with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations. Employees are occasionally exposed to minor cuts and other injuries. Â
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly interacts with the public. The employee is required to speak and hear, sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, bend, stoop, use hands and fingers to perform repetitive motions, climb ladders to reach high shelves, squat to reach low shelves, reach for materials at various angles and locations, and to lift, push, or pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds. It requires the ability to use standard officeequipment including computers. Â
- Some travel by personal automobile for off-site meetings in various settings may occur. Occasional overnight travel may berequired. Â
- Working hours vary based on community service event schedules and when theLibrary is open to the public. May include evenings and weekends. Â
