Your role is to drive the culture of your gym. You're the person who makes a first-time guest feel welcome, helps them see what's possible, and guides them to the membership that fits their goals. Side by side with our General Manager, you'll build and coach a team that makes every visit feel motivating and real. This is our path to General Manager, and we promote within across all locations in Washington and Oregon.
Core Values
- Motivating: We inspire members and teammates to show up and push further than they thought they could.
- Authentic: We're real with people, honest about what fits their goals, and never pushy.
- Passionate: We love fitness, our clubs, and the community we build together.
Culture and Leadership
- Build a gym culture that's Motivating, Authentic, and Passionate, and model it every shift
- Lead the club as manager on duty when the GM is out, setting the energy and the standard
- Run team huddles that share goals, promotions, and wins
- Recognize great work and celebrate team and member milestones
- Guide guests through tours and help them find the membership that fits their goals
- Follow up with leads, guest passes, and first-time visitors and turn first visits into new members
- Help members upgrade, add services, and stay engaged so they keep coming back
- Bring club promotions, events, and community outreach to life
- Recruit, interview, and onboard people who fit the culture.
- Train and coach the front desk team (our Service Motivators) and Club Keepers to create a great experience for every member
- Build weekly schedules that cover peak hours and stay within labor goals
- Give regular feedback and help team members grow into leaders
- Be the go-to person for members, in person, by phone, and by email, making sure every interaction leaves them glad they're part of the gym
- Run opening and closing procedures, including shift handoffs and daily reports
- Walk the club daily to keep it clean, safe, and equipment-ready, and report anything that needs repair
- Track club goals with the GM and use the numbers to plan each week
- You light up a room and genuinely enjoy talking with people, from first timers to lifelong lifters
- You're comfortable guiding someone to a decision, with honesty and without pressure
- You've led or trained a team for 1+ year (shift lead, supervisor, or assistant manager all count)
- You have 2+ years in a people-facing role: fitness, hospitality, restaurant, retail, or sales
- You lead by example: on time, upbeat, and the first to pitch in when the club is busy
- You're comfortable with gym or POS software, email, and scheduling tools
- You can work a mix of mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays
- High school diploma or equivalent, and CPR/AED within 30 days of hire (we'll help you get it)
- Fitness industry experience is a plus, not a requirement
- $19.00 - $23.00 per hour based on experience
- Paid Time Off (PTO) after first 90 days of employment
- Free membership at all Gold's Gym PNW clubs, including tanning and red-light therapy, plus a guest
- Manager training and path to General Manager
You'll be on your feet for the entire shift and must be comfortable with that. You'll move throughout the club and occasionally help with moving equipment. It's a busy gym: music, weights, and lots of people.
