Assistant Department Manager-MEAT

Position Summary
Assist the Meat Department Manager in overseeing daily operations of the meat department while ensuring excellent customer service, product quality, food safety, and profitability. The role includes supervising associates and performing meat-cutting duties as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with managing day-to-day meat department operations.
• Cut, trim, prepare, and package beef, pork, poultry, and seafood products.
• Maintain fresh, properly stocked, and attractive meat displays.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
• Train, mentor, and supervise department associates.
• Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering products.
• Reduce shrink and control department costs.
• Provide excellent customer service and answer product-related questions.
• Support scheduling, productivity, and department performance goals.
• Assist the Department Manager with opening, closing, and administrative duties.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Previous meat-cutting experience required.
• Experience in a grocery store or retail meat department preferred.
• Knowledge of meat cuts, preparation techniques, and food safety standards.
• Leadership or supervisory experience is a plus.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
