OUR CAMPUSES
Ponce Health Sciences University has campuses in Ponce and San Juan Puerto Rico, St. Louis, Missouri and Tortola, British Virgin Islands. PHSU BVI is an ACCM accredited university founded in 2025 and is in its second year of training future medical students.
THE POSITION
The Assistant Dean of Curriculum is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the medical education curriculum. This position ensures that curricular content, instructional methods, and assessment strategies align with program objectives, accreditation standards, and institutional priorities.
The role collaborates closely with academic leadership, faculty, and institutional committees to ensure curricular integrity, comparability across instructional sites, and continuous quality improvement. The Assistant Dean also promotes innovation in teaching and learning, supports faculty development, and ensures compliance with accreditation requirements.
KEY OUTCOMES OF THE ROLE
• The effective implementation and continuous improvement of the MD program curriculum.
• Alignment of curricular content, instructional methods, and assessments with institutional and accreditation standards.
• The systematic evaluation of curriculum effectiveness and student learning outcomes.
• The integration of educational innovation and technology into curriculum delivery.
• Support for faculty development and instructional excellence.
• Compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:
Education: • MD, PhD, or equivalent terminal degree required. • Master’s degree in Medical Education or related discipline preferred.
Experience: • Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical education or academic administration. • Experience in curriculum leadership preferred. • Experience supporting accreditation processes preferred.
Technical Skills: • Proficiency in learning management systems (Canvas, MedHub). • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. • Experience with curriculum mapping systems preferred.

The employee must occasionally lift objects weighing from 10 – 30 pounds and possibly up to 50 pounds. Close vision needed to use computer. Must have distance vision and depth perception for safety purposes.
