Assistant Coach, Speech and Debate - Academy, Grades 9-12

Punahou School recognizes the richness of its traditions and responsibility to deliver a meaningful education in a rapidly changing world. It seeks to develop the full potential of each student through a broad, vigorous program of studies and relevant experiences for exploration, growth, and mastery. Punahou School is actively recruiting a speech or debate coach who will assist students in preparing for tournaments by providing feedback on cases and speeches and supporting student captains in their leadership of the team. Coaches will also be responsible for judging tournaments once or twice per month (schedule to be determined).

Position Details:

• Work Year: 9 Months 
• School Year: 2026-2027
• Work Hours: Mondays and Thursdays, 3:45 PM - 5:00 PM, Occasional Fridays and Saturdays, Schedule may vary based on operational needs.
• Stipend Amount: $2,200

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Background in speech and debate, with debate experience in Public Forum and/or Lincoln-Douglas formats preferred.
• Strong communication, research, and analytical skills.
• Ability to inspire and motivate students.
• Commitment to fostering a positive team environment.
