Job Title: Assembly Contractor A – Dark Room Testing Environment
Location: Tempe, AZ
Duration: 12 Months
Pay Rate: $19.50/hour
Shift Timings: 2:30 PM – 12:00 AM, 9/80 schedule (Monday–Thursday and every other Friday)
Job Description
The Tester will perform testing, inspection, evaluation, disposition, and rework of potted modules and image intensifier tubes using various electro-optical test equipment. The role requires maintaining high-quality standards and production throughput while working in a dark-room environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspections and tests on parts and assemblies according to written specifications.
- Test potted modules and image intensifier tubes using electro-optical equipment.
- Evaluate test results and determine appropriate disposition or rework.
- Operate equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, current/voltage meters, dial calipers, indicators, height gauges, micrometers, and microscopes.
- Accurately record and maintain test data and production records.
- Perform specialized testing and rework procedures as directed.
- Follow established work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Maintain required production throughput while ensuring product quality.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams.
- Assist with creating and maintaining work instructions, visual aids, and standard work documents.
- Follow mechanical, chemical, electrical, fire, and laser safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 0–3 years of relevant experience.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work comfortably in a dark-room environment — mandatory requirement.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks and maintain concentration for extended periods.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and work instructions.
- Knowledge of applicable mechanical, chemical, and electrical safety procedures.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in manufacturing or high-volume production.
- Knowledge of electrical/mechanical measuring equipment.
- Quality-control terminology and inspection experience.
- Soldering experience or soldering certification.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma, 5S, or Lean methodologies.
- Experience working with microscopes or precision measurement equipment.
Physical & Work Environment
- Work is performed on an assembly floor and in a dark/low-light inspection and testing environment.
- May require prolonged sitting or standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Repetitive movement and pinch-grip activities may be required.
- Ability to move items weighing over 10 lbs.
- Exposure to noise, fumes, odors, and humidity.
- Safety glasses and gloves are required.
- Work may involve mechanical, electrical, fire, and laser hazards.
