This position will be based at the BorgWarner Arden facility in Western North Carolina and will transition to a new facility in Hendersonville, NC.

The Operations Technician supports production operations by operating, monitoring, assembling, troubleshooting, and maintaining manufacturing equipment and processes.  The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, comfortable working in an evolving startup environment, committed to continuous improvement, and capable of identifying and solving problems with minimal direction. This individual serves as a positive influence for the team by sharing knowledge, supporting the development of others, and contributing to a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.  Experience in startup operations, prototype builds, industrial assembly, maintenance, machining, or other technical manufacturing environments is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production equipment and manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • Assemble, inspect, test, and verify products and components while utilizing strong mechanical aptitude to identify, diagnose, and resolve product, equipment, and process-related issues.
  • Read, interpret, and apply blueprints, diagrams, work instructions, engineering specifications, and production documentation to support manufacturing operations and problem resolution.
  • Troubleshoot equipment, tooling, and process issues; perform routine maintenance activities; and actively support root cause analysis and corrective actions to minimize downtime and drive sustainable improvements.
  • Utilize measuring instruments, gauges, diagnostic tools, and testing equipment to verify product quality, validate process performance, and support data-driven decision making.
  • Support production goals by maintaining high standards for safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance while adapting to changing priorities, new products, and evolving processes associated with a startup environment.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized work areas while promoting a culture of accountability, teamwork, and adherence to company safety and quality standards.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying waste, improving workflows, enhancing equipment reliability, and supporting Lean manufacturing principles throughout the facility.
  • Collaborate with team members, engineers, maintenance personnel, and leadership to solve problems, implement process improvements, and support operational excellence objectives.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, coaching, and mentoring new hires and peers by sharing technical knowledge, best practices, and standard work to help build workforce capability.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to support a variety of manufacturing activities as business needs evolve, contributing to the successful launch and growth of operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, industrial, maintenance, machining, fabrication, or technical production environment.
  • Experience operating, troubleshooting, adjusting, and improving manufacturing equipment, tooling, or production processes.
  • Experience reading and interpreting work instructions, blueprints, engineering drawings, schematics, or technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems, troubleshoot issues, and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience performing quality inspections, utilizing measuring equipment, and adhering to established quality standards.

Preferred:

  • Experience in industrial assembly, power generation equipment, automotive, aerospace, machining, automation, or other complex manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting prototype builds, new product launches, process development, or startup manufacturing operations.
  • Experience participating in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Continuous Improvement, root cause analysis, or waste reduction initiatives.
  • Experience training, mentoring, onboarding, or serving as a subject matter expert for peers and new employees.
