AS400 specialist (RPG Deveoper)

About The Job:

• We are looking for an experienced AS/400 Developer with 6+ years of hands-on experience in IBM iSeries / AS400 application development, maintenance, and support.
• The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise in RPG programming, DB2/400, CL programming, and system support.
• The candidate will work closely with business users, analysts, and technical teams to develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications.

Essential Job Functions:

• Develop, maintain, and support applications on IBM AS/400 (iSeries) platform.
• Work on RPGLE, CLLE, SQLRPGLE, COBOL/400, and DB2/400 programming.
• Analyze business requirements and provide technical solutions.
• Perform code enhancements, debugging, testing, and production support.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for applications and processes.
• Work on batch job scheduling, job monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Troubleshoot system/application issues and provide timely resolution.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for application integration and deployment.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
• Support migration, modernization, and system upgrade activities when required.

Qualifications:
Required Skills

• Strong experience in AS/400 / IBM iSeries development.
• Expertise in RPG III, RPG IV, RPGLE, Free Format RPG, CL/CLLE.
• Good knowledge of DB2/400, SQL, Query/400.
• Experience in debugging and performance optimization.
• Knowledge of batch processing and job scheduling.
• Familiarity with source control and change management tools.
• Understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with API integration and web services on AS400.
• Exposure to modernization projects and IBM upgrades.
• Knowledge of Aldon, Turnover, or other change management tools.
• Experience in manufacturing, logistics, finance, or retail domain is an added advantage.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

Experience Required

• Minimum 6+ years of relevant experience in AS/400 / IBM iSeries technologies.
