We are looking for a Senior AWS Cloud & DevOps Consultant for the client's Fast Track to the Future (FTTF) programme. FTTF is replacing the client's locally implemented lottery systems with a single group ecosystem that all of its lotteries will use.

You will support the client's CRM and data teams with cloud work. The CRM platform is Salesforce, which FTTF is currently implementing. You will build integrations between Salesforce and the existing systems running in AWS, move the GitLab CI/CD setup to the group's trunk-based standard, and set up observability across AWS and Salesforce. You will also do some Google Cloud work to support the data teams' use of Google Analytics and BigQuery.

This is a client-facing consulting role. You will propose solution architecture, then build, test and implement it. You will also explain and justify your designs to cloud engineers and to CRM and business stakeholders. You will work with both the client's existing cloud organisation and its CRM organisation.

The ideal candidate is a motivated, self-driven senior engineer with strong experience in AWS integrations, CI/CD and observability. They can shape a solution on their own initiative and communicate it clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Job requirements

Role Summary 

This is a senior, hands-on AWS consulting and technical leadership role. The successful candidate will own AWS architecture, environment setup and configuration, while leading the technical team through delivery. The three main focus areas are Salesforce and AWS integrations, GitLab CI/CD transformation, and observability across AWS and Salesforce. The role also covers basic Google Cloud setup for the data teams.

The Environment

• Salesforce as the CRM platform, currently being implemented as part of FTTF

• AWS as the main cloud provider, where the existing systems run

• Integration through synchronous APIs, event-driven flows on Amazon EventBridge and file-based batch flows on Amazon S3

• GitLab CI/CD, currently on a GitFlow workflow and moving to the group-standard trunk-based deployment and propagation pattern, with Snyk for repository security scanning

• Observability built mainly on Amazon CloudWatch, possibly with external tooling

• Google Cloud (Google Analytics and BigQuery) used by the data teams

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Salesforce ↔ AWS Integration

• Design and build integrations between Salesforce and existing AWS-hosted systems using synchronous APIs, Amazon EventBridge events and file-based batch flows on Amazon S3

• Use AWS services to build features that Salesforce does not offer today

• Make integrations secure, reliable and supportable, including error handling, retries and replay

CI/CD & DevSecOps

• Improve the current GitLab CI/CD setup and move it from GitFlow to the group-standard trunk-based deployment and propagation pattern 

• Improve security scanning of repositories with Snyk

Observability

• Set up and improve observability across AWS and Salesforce, covering tracing, dashboards and alerting

• Build on Amazon CloudWatch, and assess external tooling where it adds value

Google Cloud for Data Teams

• Set up GCP accounts, permissions and basic infrastructure for the data teams' use of Google Analytics and BigQuery

Solution Architecture & Stakeholder Engagement

• Own the AWS solution architecture and lead the design, environment setup, configuration, testing and implementation of the solutions

  • Lead and mentor engineers, set technical direction and maintain accountability for delivery quality

  • Make and defend key AWS architecture, security, configuration and operational decisions

• Explain and justify designs to cloud engineers and to CRM and business stakeholders

• Work with both the client's existing cloud organisation and its CRM organisation

Required Experience and Skills

Must-have

• 10+ years of hands-on AWS cloud and DevOps engineering experience, including proven team leadership experience at a senior or lead level

  • Proven experience leading cloud or DevOps teams and providing technical direction across complex AWS delivery

  • Demonstrable end-to-end ownership of AWS environment setup and configuration, including making architecture and implementation decisions personally

  • Strong evidence of personally configuring and troubleshooting AWS environments, rather than only implementing tasks under another person's direction

• Proven experience building integrations on AWS with APIs (e.g. API Gateway, Lambda), Amazon EventBridge and file-based batch flows on S3

• Strong GitLab CI/CD experience, including trunk-based development and deployment / promotion patterns

• Hands-on observability experience: tracing, dashboards and alerting with Amazon CloudWatch

• Able to propose solution architecture and explain and justify it to engineers and business stakeholders

• Motivated and self-driven, with strong communication skills

Advantageous

• Google Cloud experience (projects, IAM, basic infrastructure, BigQuery). The client describes this as a big plus

• Salesforce integration experience (e.g. Platform Events, Change Data Capture, REST / Bulk APIs)

• Snyk or similar SCA / SAST tooling in CI/CD pipelines

• AWS X-Ray, OpenTelemetry or external observability tools (e.g. Datadog, Grafana)

• Infrastructure as code (Terraform, AWS CDK or CloudFormation)

• AWS certifications (Solutions Architect – Associate / Professional, DevOps Engineer – Professional)

• Experience on large multi-country or multi-brand platform consolidation programmes
