We are now accepting applications for aProgram DirectorofCommunityMental Health and Youth Services] tobe based out of our Kelowna office.Under the direction and supervision of the Director ofServices the ProgramDirector of the CommunityMental Health and Youth Services providesclinical supervision totheFamily Based TreatmentProgram across the Okanagan (North, Central, and South)and ourYouth Services andFamily & YouthOutreach CounsellingPrograms.

The Family-Based Treatment Program is a mental health outreach service designed to support children, youth, and their families in their home. The program works closely with Child and Youth Mental Health clinicians to strengthen family coping and capacity andassisting their child or youth to manage, reduce, or overcome the challenges and impacts associated with their mental health diagnosis.

The Youth Servicesand Family & Youth Outreach CounsellingPrograms
provide a continuum of services for youth and families experiencing barriersimpacting wellbeing.Youth Services supports independence foryouthwho are unhoused and disconnected from their families and other community supports. The Family and Youth Outreach Counselling Program supports youth and their caregivers in strengthening their relationships and reducing the risk of youth becoming unhoused. 

Hours / Schedule

• 35hours per week 

• Primarily Monday to Friday, however hours may fluctuate to accommodate the program’s schedule and the needs of the agency
  
• This position will require weekly travel through the North, Central and South Okanagan.  

Responsibilities

The Program Director ofCommunity OutreachProgramsresponsibilitiesinclude, but not limited to: 

• Providing supervision and support to program counsellors in relation to developing andmaintaining client records and effective case management practices 

• Providing leadership, supervision, and clinical guidance to staff delivering individual and family counselling, parent education and support, and attachment-informed behaviour management consultation and intervention 

• Providing annual employee performance appraisals and cooperate with staff to develop performanceobjectives and professional development plans 

• Participating as a member of the Management Team to develop long range and strategic plans, and collaborate,assess and resolve operational issues as they arise 

• Completing administrative duties, including the range of required incident, qualityassurance and program reports 

Preferred Education and Experience

The qualifications for this position are: 

• Master of Social Work or a master’s degree in a relevant discipline (MA in Counselling, MA Psychology, etc.) 

• 4-years of clinical experience in mental health and/or family support services 

• Supervisory experience withyouth and familycounselling and child and youth mental health 

To be successful in your role,you'll also need:  

• To be an innovative and supportive supervisor 

• Experience withstrengths-based,trauma-informed care and youth and families experiencing risk 

• Excellent communication and coaching skills 

• Knowledge of and experience with conflict resolution and stress debriefing techniques.  

• To function effectively both independently andcollaborativelyas part of amulti-disciplinaryteam 

• Be skilled at appropriately applying the following treatment modalities to practice:   

• CBT, DBT and other cognitive counselling approaches  

• Collaborative Proactive Solutions 

• Family Systems Counselling  

• Attachment, Developmental, and trauma-informed care  

• Suicide assessment,prevention and intervention    

Other Requirements

Given the nature of our work, please note that all shortlisted candidates: 

• Need a valid BC Driver's License, regional insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle 

• Must undergo a screening process, including a criminal record search 
  

Wage / Benefits

$7,700.00 – 7,875.00
permonth based on experience and education.  

Upon successful completion of a trial period, this position is eligible for a full benefit package (including dental plan, vision coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage, long-term disability plan, and RRSP or TFSA contributions); as well as accrued vacation and sick time at 5.8% - above BC Employment Standards!
