About Raphah Institute
Raphah Institute works to strengthen communities by advancing restorative approaches to harm, accountability, healing, and safety.
Through Accountability and Restoration Conferencing (ARC), Raphah creates structured opportunities for people affected by harm to have meaningful voice, choice, support, and pathways toward accountability and repair.
The Opportunity
Raphah Institute is seeking an ARC Trauma Coach to provide trauma-informed, healing-oriented support to harmed parties participating in ARC.
The Trauma Coach helps harmed parties understand the ARC process, identify what they need, consider the forms of participation and repair that are meaningful to them, address safety and support needs, connect with resources, and move through the process with dignity, agency, and choice.
ARC is a restorative process that can include many different forms of participation. A facilitated conference may be one part of that process, but it is not required. The Trauma Coach supports harmed parties whether or not conferencing is part of what they choose. |
This is a participant-facing role for someone who can build trust, exercise sound judgment, maintain strong professional boundaries, manage emotionally complex situations, and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary restorative-practice team.
What You'll Do
- Engage harmed parties through intake, ongoing support, and follow-up throughout their ARC involvement.
- Build trusting, trauma-informed relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Help harmed parties understand ARC, their options, and the choices available to them throughout the process.
- Support participants in identifying their needs, concerns, boundaries, desired outcomes, and definitions of meaningful accountability and repair.
- Assess safety, support, stabilization, and healing needs within the scope of the role.
- Develop individualized safety, support, and healing-oriented plans when appropriate.
- Provide trauma education, coping strategies, and supportive interventions within role scope.
- Connect harmed parties with appropriate community, clinical, crisis, legal, medical, or other specialized resources when needs extend beyond ARC.
- Prepare and support harmed parties for the restorative activities they choose.
- Where conferencing is selected, provide support before, during, and after the conference.
- Coordinate closely with Accountability Coaches, the ARC Program Manager, the Head of Restorative Practice, and other relevant team members.
- Maintain timely, accurate, complete, and confidential case documentation in Salesforce and other approved systems.
- Identify safety, ethical, practice, or scope concerns and raise them promptly through established consultation and escalation processes.
- Participate in Case Review, Practice Labs, supervision, training, and other practice-development activities.
- Contribute observations, resources, tools, and learning that strengthen ARC over time.
How the Role Works
The ARC Trauma Coach owns a defined body of harmed-party support work and exercises independent professional judgment within established ARC standards and the scope of the role.
The Trauma Coach works across the full range of ARC cases, including complex cases, and uses supervision, consultation, Case Review, and technical guidance when additional support or judgment is needed.
The role reports administratively to the ARC Program Manager and receives technical and practice direction from the Head of Restorative Practice.
This role is trauma-informed but is not inherently a clinical treatment role. When participant needs extend beyond the scope of ARC or the Trauma Coach role, the Coach helps connect the participant with appropriate specialized support.
What We're Looking For
- Relevant experience supporting people affected by violence, trauma, victimization, community harm, or justice-system involvement.
- Strong relational skills and the ability to build trust with people experiencing difficult or emotionally intense circumstances.
- Understanding of trauma-informed and participant-centered practice.
- Sound judgment regarding safety, confidentiality, professional boundaries, and when consultation or escalation is needed.
- Respect for participant agency and the ability to support people in making their own informed choices.
- Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- The ability to manage multiple participants, responsibilities, deadlines, and documentation requirements consistently.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
- A willingness to learn and apply Raphah Institute's ARC model and restorative-practice standards.
- A commitment to dignity, accountability, equity, confidentiality, and Raphah Institute's mission.
- A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, criminal justice, human services, sociology, public health, or a related field may be helpful, but we also value relevant training, lived experience, and direct-service experience.
Preferred Experience
- At least 2 years of relevant direct-service experience supporting survivors or harmed parties following serious violence or traumatic events
- Restorative justice
- Victim services
- Trauma-informed care
- Violence intervention
- Crisis response
- Conflict transformation
- Working with youth or adults affected by criminal legal systems
- Group facilitation, educational sessions, circles, or other structured participant experiences
- Community-resource navigation
- Salesforce or another case-management system
- Bilingual or multilingual service delivery
Work Environment and Schedule
This role includes participant-facing work in office, community, virtual, and other approved settings. Local travel within the assigned jurisdiction is expected. Some evening or occasional weekend availability may be required based on participant needs, restorative activities, training, or organizational responsibilities. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
The role regularly engages with sensitive subject matter involving violence, harm, trauma, loss, safety concerns, and criminal legal-system involvement.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation will be based on Raphah Institute's applicable Level 2 geography-specific pay range and will reflect relevant experience and internal equity.
