Overview

We are looking for aSenior Portfolio Manager, GitHub Workplace, who is dedicated and experienced with outstanding operational skills, along with sound judgement to lead and be based out of the GitHub San Francisco office, a gorgeous 60,000+ sq ft space. This role is unique in being a critical partner to both the Microsoft and GitHub real estate portfolio, employees, and programs. 

 

This position is responsible for overseeing operationally sound, welcoming events, meetings hub, and a team of Workplace and Facilities coordinators to run day-to-day operations. Additionally, you will work closely with property management, events, and a team of vendors, collaborating closely with Developer, Security, and IT/AV teams, and leading onsite programs that embodies our company values and supports our communities.

This is a full-time onsite role based at the GitHub San Francisco, CA office that reports to the Regional Lead, and it will require being onsite in an office 4-5 days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee delivery of real estate and facilities management services, leveraging third-party vendors to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality outcomes, consistent with the requirements of the business client and support peer organizations within the portfolio.
  • Manage both Microsoft and GitHub relationships and processes for portfolio management and vendor management.
  • Main point of contact for property management relations, emergency crises management liaison, and any property-related escalations.
  • Build, partner, and execute on an onsite events program (i.e., GitHub happy hours, community hosting nights, developer community meetups, customer meetings, etc.) that engage our customers and delight our employees. 
  • Partner closely with our Physical Security team to ensure alignment on Workplace Experience safety, policies, and goals. 
  • Manage the quality of service levels, directing and coordinating maintenance, facilities, amenities, etc. 
  • Communicate program and policy information with regular updates to the team and employees. 
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations. 
  • Maintain and enhance solid relationships as building liaison. Lead tours for outside groups and new hires. Develop relationships with landlord, customers, and across various levels of GitHub and Microsoft. 
  • Create and manage office policies and procedures. Prioritize culture, safety, sustainability, and wellness. 
  • Act as a nurturer of company culture. Handle employee and community requests with a high degree in customer service and work to ensure our environment is productive, fun, inclusive and stimulating. 
  • Own and track all portfolio or office related invoices, expense reporting, utilization metrics and annual operational spend. Make recommendations to improve efficiency while maintaining quality experience. Collaborate with the team to prepare an annual budget. Schedule expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions as needed. 


Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Real Estate, Project Management, or related field, AND 3+ years relevant experience. OR 5+ years equivalent experience.

 

Additional or Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Real Estate, Project Management, or related field AND 5+ years portfolio management, real estate, or office management experience OR 7+ years equivalent experience.
  • Educational and/or professional background in Hospitality AND 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in responsibly managing finances, expenses, invoices, purchase orders. 
  • Experience with developing and maintaining positive employee experience.
  • Experience successfully managing, leading, or guiding a team of vendors and onsite coordinators.
  • Basic and local knowledge of OSHA, EH+S, FDA and other standards and regulations.  
  • A leader with a passion for building communities and making workplaces operate seamlessly.
  • Solid attention to detail, organizational skills, and judgment capabilities.
  • Ability to demonstrate solid collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across diverse teams and to communicate plans and updates clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Drive solutions and lead effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a passion for optimizing space solutions and driving innovation within the company. 


Real Estate Portfolio Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $97,600 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $125,000 - $206,400 per year.
