Application Programmer

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Lead Software Engineer for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Jersey City, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

This role is for a hands-on technical leader who will design, build, and guide teams developing innovative, scalable products and services for institutional clients. The ideal candidate will blend deep hands-on development experience with strategic thinking, driving architecture, mentoring engineers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, secure, and resilient distributed systems.

Responsibilities:

• Drive architecture design of large-scale projects in collaboration with technology partners and business teams
• Partner with product and business teams to define and drive technical requirements, design, develop, and deploy solutions
• Lead and inspire cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability
• Mentor and coach junior engineers, providing technical guidance and career development support
• Act as a technical leader, setting standards for code quality, system design, and best practices across the team
• Identify opportunities and suggest solutions to improve data quality, processes, and system performance
• Proactively guard against cyber threats and drive long-term remediation of key issues
• Stay current and proactively adopt the latest portal and emerging technologies to drive innovation
• Collaborate with senior leadership to define technical strategies, roadmaps, and priorities
• Lead efforts to standardize and automate SDLC processes
• Represent the team in executive-level discussions, providing updates on progress, challenges, and strategic initiatives

Requirements:

• 10+ years of hands-on core Java development with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, scalable solutions
• Experience using Multi-threading and building high-performance systems
• Experience with messaging technologies: MQ, TIBCO, JMS
• Strong experience with UNIX Shell scripting and database technologies (SQL, Oracle)
• Proficiency in modern front-end technologies: Angular/AngularJS, React, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS
• Experience with CI/CD tools: Jenkins, Maven, Eclipse, IntelliJ, Git/GitHub, Artifactory, Ansible
• Hands-on experience with scripting languages (Groovy, Python, Bash, etc.)
• Strong working knowledge of REST/JSON and microservices architecture
• Experience with Agile software development methodologies and DevOps practices
• Experience in production support for large-scale deployments, including infrastructure and service operations
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like Dynatrace and Splunk

Desired skills:

• Expertise in Liferay portal (Portlets, Layouts, Themes) is preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering results in a fast-paced environment
• Proven ability to lead and manage teams, driving accountability and fostering a culture of excellence
• Experience with process tools such as JIRA workflows, release dashboards, and portfolio tools
• Ability to balance technical leadership with hands-on development, ensuring high-quality deliverables

Pay range:$58.26 - $66.26 per hour
