Essential Job Functions:
- Design, implement, and maintain Azure SQL databases, including data models, schemas, and indexes
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity of Azure SQL databases
- Manage database security, access control, and compliance with relevant regulations
- Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and capacity planning
- Monitor databases for potential issues and perform routine maintenance tasks
- Document database architecture, configurations, and changes
- Collaborate with development teams to understand database requirements and provide guidance on data modeling and SQL practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a DBA with strong focus on Azure SQL Server
- In-depth knowledge of relational database concepts, SQL Server architecture, and Azure SQL features
- Proficiency in T-SQL, data modeling techniques, and database design principles
- Experience with Azure SQL Server management tools (Azure Portal, SSMS)
- Strong understanding of database security and access control
- Familiarity with database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities
Preferred Skills:
- Microsoft Azure or SQL Server certifications
- Experience with database replication, clustering, mirroring, or availability groups
- Familiarity with ETL processes and data warehousing concepts
- Experience with database automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python)
- Knowledge of DevOps practices applied to database management
Good to Have (Not Mandatory):
- Exposure to cloud migrations or hybrid environments
- Knowledge of modern data platforms or analytics solutions
- Total Years of Experience: 7+ yrs
- Relevant Years of Experience: 7+ yrs
