Job Summary

We are seeking an experiencedAppian Architect with strong expertise inBusiness Process Management (BPM) to design, architect, and lead enterprise-grade Appian solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience with the Appian platform, enterprise integration patterns, and BPM best practices. This role requires strong leadership, client-facing communication, and the ability to drive scalable digital transformation initiatives.

This is a hybrid role based in Reston, VA.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design of complex BPM solutions using theAppian platform.

• Define overall application architecture, including data models, process models, integrations, and security frameworks.

• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions using Appian BPM capabilities.

• Design and implement:

  • Process Models

  • SAIL Interfaces

  • Record Types

  • Integration Objects

  • Web APIs

  • CDTs & Data Stores

• Develop reusable components and establish Appian development standards and governance.

• Integrate Appian with external systems (REST/SOAP APIs, databases, third-party applications).

• Optimize performance and ensure application scalability and security compliance.

• Provide technical leadership to development teams and conduct code reviews.

• Work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and enterprise architects.

• Support CI/CD pipeline integration and DevOps best practices.

• Troubleshoot complex production issues and provide architectural solutions.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of overall IT experience.

• 7+ years of hands-on experience withAppian BPM development and architecture.

• Strong expertise in BPM concepts, workflow automation, and process orchestration.

• Experience with Appian 22.x/23.x or higher versions.

• Strong understanding of:

  • Appian Architecture & Design Patterns

  • Appian Security & Performance Tuning

  • Integration frameworks (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML)

  • Relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle)

• Experience designing high-availability and scalable Appian solutions.

• Strong experience in data modeling and enterprise integrations.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Appian Certified Lead Developer or Certified Architect.

• Experience in Federal, Healthcare, or Financial Services domains.

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).

• Knowledge of DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines.
