Senior Accountant

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in Mtwara. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing accurate financial reporting to support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports
• Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes
• Coordinate internal and external audits
• Prepare tax returns and ensure compliance with local tax regulations
• Maintain accurate records of financial transactions
• Review and implement financial policies and procedures
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes
• Provide leadership and guidance to junior accounting staff

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• CPA or equivalent professional certification is a plus
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, or similar) and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience working in or with companies in the logistics, transport, or industrial sectors is an added advantage

Work Location:

• Based in Mtwara, Tanzania. Candidates must be willing to relocate or already reside in the area.
