Lead Java Developer

We are looking for a hands-on Lead Java Developer with 12+ years of experience to drive the backend architecture and development of a key Dynamic Portfolios platform for a leading Wealth Management firm. In this role, you will lead a Scrum team, design secure REST APIs and event-driven microservices using Java and Apache Kafka, and mentor junior engineers while maintaining a strong focus on engineering excellence, CI/CD, and modern development tools (including GenAI-assisted workflows).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain secure, high-performance backend applications, microservices, and REST APIs
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, driving engineering best practices, conducting code reviews, and fostering a collaborative team environment
• Design and build event-driven microservices utilizing Apache Kafka to support real-time data streaming and processing
• Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives; take ownership of technical planning and effort estimations
• Ensure robust testing practices (unit testing, integration testing) and seamless integration with CI/CD pipelines to maintain high standards of code quality and release reliability
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, product owners, and key stakeholders to align technical solutions with business capabilities
• Learn and support existing applications and legacy codebases, migrating or refactoring them into modern architectures where necessary

Requirements

• 12+ years of professional software development experience, including proven hands-on technology leadership
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (Master’s preferred)
• Extensive hands-on experience with Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, Apache Kafka, Microservices, and REST APIs
• Strong understanding of full-stack application design, data modeling, DevOps pipelines (CI/CD), and QA practices
• Practical experience with GenAI-assisted development tools to optimize engineering productivity
• Prior experience in Financial Services or Wealth Management is highly preferred
• Excellent communication, presentation, and client-facing skills, with a proven ability to mentor junior developers and lead agile scrum ceremonies
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and structured approach to problem-solving, with the ability to work effectively and lead in ambiguous environments
