Quality Incharge - Mtwara

Purpose of the role

The candidate for this role will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating quality control and quality assurance activities within the food processing industry, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, quality management procedures, and applicable requirements. The role involves monitoring food safety practices, maintaining accurate documentation, supporting audits and certification processes, and managing quality-related activities to ensure consistent product quality and food safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate quality control and quality assurance activities within the food processing operations.

• Ensure compliance with HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Hygiene Practices (GHP).

• Monitor food safety and quality control procedures to ensure products meet established quality and safety standards.

• Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of food safety management systems.

• Coordinate food safety audits and certification activities, ensuring relevant requirements are addressed.

• Maintain accurate quality control records, food safety documentation, and audit-related reports.

• Prepare quality reports and communicate quality-related findings and recommendations to management.

• Identify quality and food safety issues and support the implementation of appropriate corrective and preventive actions.

• Manage and guide the quality team to ensure quality control and food safety procedures are consistently followed.

• Collaborate with production and other relevant teams to maintain food safety and product quality standards.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives within quality assurance and food safety operations.

• Perform any other duties related to quality management as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or a related field

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the food industry, specifically in Quality Control or Quality Assurance

• Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, GHP, and food safety audits and certification

• Good documentation and reporting skills

• Good team management skills

• Experience in cashew processing or food processing will be an added advantage
