What is NATS?

NATS is the UK’s leading Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP). Every year we handle around 2.5 million flights and over 300 million passengers travelling in UK airspace. We provide air traffic management (ATM) services to 15 airports in the UK, as well as services to customers across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America.

We’re shaping the future of ATM through our focus on ‘advancing aviation and keeping the skies safe’ and believe that the size and diversity of our business make us an exciting choice for graduates considering their future careers.

Our Operations Graduate Scheme

Our two-year Operations Graduate Scheme gives ambitious graduates the opportunity to build their careers in a challenging environment where safety, innovation and operational excellence guide our work.

With four specialist pathways available, you can choose the route that best aligns with your degree background, strengths and career aspirations:

• Data, Insights & Performance: Turn operational data into insights that support performance and decision-making.
• Service Delivery & Operational Leadership: Build skills in customer engagement, service delivery and operational improvement.
• Airports Engineering, Projects & Change Delivery: Support engineering projects, infrastructure improvements and operational change.
• Airports Commercial & Business Development: Help develop customer relationships, partnerships and opportunities for business growth.

Each pathway is advertised separately, with this role’s potential rotations and entry requirements outlined below.
If your skills and interests fit more than one pathway, please let us know by emailing earlycareers@nats.co.uk.

What will the Airports Engineering, Projects & Change Delivery Graduate Scheme involve?

You’ll work alongside engineering, project and operational specialists on projects that support safe, efficient and sustainable air traffic services across our Airports business.
Depending on your interests, skills and development goals, you’ll have the opportunity to follow one of two areas of focus:

Engineering Delivery: Help design, develop and deliver operational systems, airport infrastructure and technology solutions. You could gain experience in airports engineering, engineering project delivery and assurance, airport operations, operations safety assurance, and technology and infrastructure improvements.

Project Management & Change Delivery: Support teams planning and coordinating engineering, technology and operational change projects. You could gain experience in engineering project management, airspace modernisation, facilities management, technology implementation and airport operational improvements.

You’ll also work across our airport network, with travel to UK airport locations required to support engineering, technology, airspace change and operational improvement programmes.

Why choose NATS?

You’ll join a community of graduates, placement students and experienced professionals, building on your university learning while contributing to our business.

We’re committed to your personal and professional development. With support from our skilled colleagues, you’ll develop practical skills and grow in confidence throughout the scheme
