Acumen Technology is a Nashville-based Managed IT Service Provider (MSP) supporting a client base concentrated in financial services, healthcare, and other regulated industries. We are a direct Microsoft partner, and most of our clients run their day-to-day work in Microsoft 365 and SharePoint in addition to their line of business applications. Our clients trust us to keep their environment secure, productive, and compliant and right now they are asking us, increasingly, for help with one thing: AI.
About the Role
This is a new role at our company, and we are looking for the right person to help us scale it. Our clients are curious about AI tools, but most of them do not know where to start, which licenses to buy, which workflows to change, or how to keep sensitive data safe as they roll it out.
As our AI Solutions Principal, you will sit with clients, understand the processes that slow them down, and help them get real, measurable value out of AI, Copilot, Claude and the broader AI tools that may be part of their LOB apps. You will also be our internal AI evangelist keeping our team current on what is new, what is worth using, and what is still just hype. This is a client-facing and you will wear a lot of hats in the beginning. As demand grows, you will help us hire and mentor the next teammates on this team, and focus your own work on what you love most.
What You'll Do
Client discovery & advisory
- Run AI-readiness conversations with client leaders, understand where people get stuck, where time is lost, and where AI could meaningfully help.
- Shadow client workflows (over Teams/Zoom, occasionally in person) and translate what you see into a prioritized of AI use cases.
- Build simple, client-specific AI adoption roadmaps, not 50-page strategy decks.
- Help clients deploy and configure AI tools and use them to get the most return on their investment and time.
Microsoft 365 Copilot implementation & rollout
- Lead Copilot pilot programs: pick the right first users, set success metrics, coach, measure, and decide what scales.
- Work with our engineering team to make sure the SharePoint sites, Teams channels, and content libraries behind Copilot are clean and correctly permissioned before go-live.
- Build light automations using Copilot Studio and Power Automate when it clearly saves a client time.
- Partner with our technology team on sensitivity labels, DLP, and Purview configuration so Copilot does not surface data it shouldn't.
Training & enablement
- Run live and recorded training sessions for client end users - from "how do I write a good prompt" to department-specific workflows.
- Build a reusable library of prompts, templates, and playbooks tailored to our client verticals (finance, healthcare, construction/manufacturing, professional services).
Internal evangelism
- Keep the rest of our team current on what is new in ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, and the Microsoft AI stack, through short demos, Lunch & Learns, and written summaries.
- Help our account managers spot AI opportunities inside their existing accounts.
- Write short, plain-English thought leadership our clients actually read (newsletters, blog posts, webinars).
We care more about curiosity, clear communication, and client empathy than years of experience. We expect you to grow into parts of this role on the job.
- 2–5 years of experience in an IT, consulting, customer success, training, or related role where you spent significant time in front of end users.
- An active, personal interest in AI: you already use ChatGPT, Claude, and/or Microsoft Copilot regularly, and you enjoy showing other people what they can do.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft 365, at minimum SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Outlook.
- Comfort learning tools like Copilot Studio, Power Automate, and PowerShell. You do not need to be a developer, but you need to enjoy figuring things out and be willing to build simple automations.
- Excellent written and spoken communication. You can explain technical ideas to non-technical people.
- A service mindset. You want your clients to win, and you sweat the small details that make that happen.
- A genuine interest in regulated industries and security first mindset.
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- Experience in a regulated environment (financial services, healthcare, HIPAA, GLBA, SOX).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, sensitivity labels, or DLP basics.
- A blog, portfolio, GitHub, or demo you can show us, anything that proves you build and are fluent in AI tools.
- A learning budget for AI and Microsoft certifications, books, and conferences. Certification exams on us.
- Hybrid schedule based out of our Nashville office
- 100% employer paid health insurance (medical and dental) and first $1,000 of qualified medical expenses covered.
- Company Matching 401k.
- Flexible hybrid schedule.
- Fun working environment and culture with regular activities both for employees and their families.
- Family vacation bonus at 5th year.
- A front-row seat to one of the fastest-moving areas in technology, and a real chance to shape a new practice from day one.
