You will be a field-oriented technical owner. You determine whether a property has viable power, equipment, fiber, access, and permitting conditions, then coordinate the utility, electrical contractors, engineering consultants, network providers, equipment vendors, and property teams needed to deliver the installation safely and reliably. While this is a remote position, frequent travel to properties across the United States is required.
What you'll do
- Visit Fundrise properties and assess electrical readiness for modular compute deployments.
- Review one-line diagrams, service capacity, transformer and switchgear ratings, feeder capacity, breaker availability, backup power, grounding, and onsite physical constraints.
- Identify required utility upgrades, electrical scope, long-lead equipment, permitting requirements, risks, costs, and schedules.
- Manage electrical design, contractor bids, equipment submittals, construction, testing, commissioning, and turnover.
- Coordinate with network providers to validate fiber routes, carrier availability, building entry, redundancy, and turn-up requirements.
- Develop a repeatable site-readiness standard and a concise go/no-go investment memo for each property.
- Work with compute, cooling, controls, and property teams so installations operate safely without compromising building operations or the resident and tenant experience.
- Maintain accurate as-builts, capacity records, commissioning documentation, and vendor performance data.
What we're looking for
- 4–8 years of experience in electrical engineering, electrical construction, commissioning, critical facilities, power generation, industrial infrastructure, or data centers.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, equipment submittals, and construction documents.
- Experience with medium- and low-voltage distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS/BESS, protection coordination, or power-quality issues.
- Experience managing contractors, consultants, schedules, and technical risk in the field.
- Comfort traveling frequently to properties across the U.S.
- Strong judgment, clear written communication, and willingness to work across real estate, utility, construction, and technology teams. A Professional Engineer license, EIT credential, data-center experience, utility coordination experience, or electrical-contractor project-engineering background is preferred but not required.
Scope of the role
- This role is not responsible for serving as engineer of record. It works with licensed design professionals and local contractors while owning Fundrise's technical diligence, standards, and deployment execution.
