Republican West Region Lobbyist, State & Local Government Affairs, U.S. Government Affairs - Senior Vice President

Based inAustin TX, this rolewill serve as Citi’sRepublican West RegionlobbyistwithintheU.S. Government Affairs (USGA)team. The roleis responsible formanaging public policy and political relationships with key government officialsacross several key states andlocalities. Reporting to thestateandlocalgovernmentteam lead,the roleworks closelywiththe teamlead, USGAcolleagues, andbusiness partners (e.g., in-region site leaders)to advance Citi’s engagement with policymakers who shape the firm’s operating policy environment by executing high-impact engagement strategies aligned with Citi’s government affairs priorities and enterprise objectives. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Serve as the primary advocate of Citi’s public policy interests withthegovernment officials shaping public policy impacting Citi in the portfolio region,by lobbying to achieve favorable policy outcomes andmanaging political engagement in a portfolio ofRepublicanstates in the West with a primary focus on Texas.Includes:   

• Identify, analyze, prioritize, and regularly communicate issues and implications  

• Coordinate on policy issues and advocacy with key internalUSGApartnersto ensure policy issues are appropriately escalated to lines of business. 

• Develop, in coordination withteam lead, a strategic engagement plan to address prioritized issues withkey policymakers 

• Leadplan execution by engaging with portfolio government officials, trade associations, and consultants in theportfolioregion 

• Execute strategic engagement and meeting plans that strengthen relationships between senior Citi business leaders and government officials in the portfolio region,both individually andwith senior Citi GA and businessexecutives.  

• Build and strengthen productive relationships with policymakers,with a focus on Citi site locations inthe region. 

• Partner closely with USGA colleagues to advance political and policy objectives 

• Manage Citi’s engagement inrelevant trade associations andleverageconsultantsto advance engagement and lobbying goals as needed.  

• Be avalue-added resource tocolleagues and internalbusinesspartners,providing insight and guidance on politicaland policydevelopmentsintheportfolioregion. 

• Represent Citi in public fora and in meetings with government officials, including atthird-party convenings, political gatherings andconferences.  

Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degreerequired; advanced degree preferred 

• Minimum7years of experience in government relations or related field, including in government, a major corporation, trade association, or other business organization 

• Prefer experiencecollaborating withteams of government affairs professionals 

• Prefer experience working on financial services public policy 

• Strong existing relationships with government officials inTexas 

• Experience coordinating closely to advance advocacyobjectives with coalitions of peers, external consultants and partners including trade associations and political organizations 

• Ability to travelover 50% of timebetween multiplejurisdictions  

Competencies 

• Public Policy and PoliticalInsightsand Business Acumen. Strong understanding of how government actions impact business decisions. Significant knowledge of the intersection ofU.S. state and federal political trends and their impact on financial services policy. Demonstrated ability to translate political dynamics intoeffective government affairs engagement strategy. 

• Leadership:Teamplayer able to build trusted relationships with senior-level policymakers and business partners. Experience with building,coordinating and engaging colleagues and networks across geographies and functions.Can interact and communicate effectively and comfortably with a wide range of audiences. 

• Results Orientation:Self-motivated, strategic, outcomes-focused professional able to manage multiple priorities,operate effectively in ambiguity, and deliver high-quality work with limited supervision while partnering closely with senior leadership. Able to think both strategically and tactically to achieve government affairs policy advocacy outcomes.
